In a chilling echo of a heinous crime, Jharkhand has been rattled by yet another appalling incident of gang rape. This time, a 21-year-old woman hailing from Chhattisgarh, working as a dancer, fell victim to a brutal assault perpetrated by her male co-dancers on the night of March 3, in the Palamu district of Jharkhand.

According to official reports, the assailants allegedly administered an intoxicating substance to the victim, rendering her unconscious. Seizing this opportunity, they forcibly dragged her into a vehicle and subjected her to a harrowing ordeal of gang rape.

SDPO Rakesh Singh, confirming the distressing incident, disclosed that two of the accused have been apprehended, with authorities intensifying efforts to apprehend the third perpetrator. “The victim is currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital, where comprehensive tests will be conducted as part of the investigative process,” he added.

The incident transpired late on Saturday night in the vicinity of the Vishrambaug Police Road area near Ranchi. Following the assault, the perpetrators callously abandoned the victim in an unconscious state before absconding from the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim had travelled to Palamu, Jharkhand, for an event. However, due to unforeseen circumstances leading to the event’s cancellation, she accompanied her colleagues to an alternate venue in Husainabad.

“The accused, en route to the event, administered the victim an intoxicating substance before subjecting her to a ghastly assault,” affirmed Singh. He further noted that while two perpetrators have been apprehended, the search continues for the third accomplice.

This tragic incident follows closely on the heels of a similarly gruesome gang rape involving a Brazilian tourist in Jharkhand. The tourist, a woman, was viciously assaulted by seven individuals in the Kurmahat region of Hansdiha police station area, Dumka district, in the early hours of Saturday, March 2nd.

Authorities have since detained three suspects in connection with the crime, with investigations underway to identify and apprehend the remaining perpetrators.

According to available details, two tourists from Spain, a female, and her partner, had halted near Kurmahat as nightfall approached. Subsequently, a group of 7-8 young men from the vicinity descended upon them, subjecting the couple to physical assault and sexual violence.

The victims, recounting their harrowing ordeal via social media, displayed visible injuries sustained during the attack. Tearfully recounting her experience in Spanish, the Brazilian influencer revealed the horrific nature of the assault, emphasising that the perpetrators’ primary motive was sexual violence.

As authorities intensify efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, the incidents serve as stark reminders of the pressing need for enhanced security measures and stringent enforcement of laws to safeguard individuals from such atrocities.
