Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will hold a nationwide protest on March 5 against the Trinamool Congress leaders’ involvement in gang rapes, land grabbing, and creating an atmosphere of fear through criminal activities in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, forcing local Hindu families to flee. This nationwide protest will take place in all state capitals and over 500 districts and metropolitan areas, with a large number of students participating.

It is to be noted that ABVP, in its Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held in Puducherry on February 27-28, passed a resolution condemning the Sandeshkhali incident and expressed serious concern over the deteriorating situation of West Bengal, which has become the epicenter of the most heinous crimes against women. ABVP units, across Bharat, will submit a memorandum to the Honourable President of India, Shrimati Draupadi Murmu, through competent authority demanding justice for the women who have fallen victim to heinous crimes in Sandeshkhali.

ABVP National General Secretary, Yagywalkya Shukla, states, “Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal is constantly promoting anti-people policies and protecting corrupt officials and criminals. The appeasement policy in West Bengal has distressed the common people, where the state government is protecting corrupt officials who are trampling on the rights of the common people. Leaders of Trinamool Congress have made the survival of women and marginalised communities difficult by sheltering heinous crimes under the protection of the state government. ABVP will protest in every corner of the country against the increasing injustices happening in Sandeshkhali.”

ABVP National Secretary, Buddhadev Bagh, stated, “Since the incident of heinous crimes against women in Sandeshkhali came to light, ABVP has been protesting across educational institutions in the entire country, demanding justice. It is very unfortunate that despite having a female Chief Minister, the safety and dignified life of women in West Bengal are not a priority for the government. Tomorrow, thousands of students, under the leadership of ABVP, will protest at hundreds of locations across the country, and a memorandum will be submitted to the President, Draupadi Murmu, by competent officials.”
