On the 4th anniversary of Delhi Riots 2020, Group of Intellectual and Academicians (GIA) organised a conference on Justice for Delhi Riots 2020: Prevention, Rehabilitation & Compensation, at Nalanda Hall, Ambedkar International Center. The conference was graced by eminent personalities including Deepak Mishra, former special commissioner of Delhi police, SN Dhingra, former judge Delhi high court, BS Bassi, former commissioner of Delhi. Almost 50 victims of Delhi riots 2020 also participated in a Moot Court, held on the same day.

The beginning was marked by the discussion on the background narrative and events during riots in North East Delhi in 2020, in opposition to CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019). Justice SN Srivastava, former judge of Allahabad High Court, mentioned how riots happened and why they took place because of the declining impact of Islamic regime in post partition in India. He concluded by suggesting that the government can resolve the atrocities faced by Hindu community with the help and support of retired military personnel.

The evidence of the Delhi riots is overlooked partially by the Judiciary of India, Nupur J Sharma, Chief Editor OpIndia highlighted. She has questioned the instances of forum shopping and bench fixing under judiciary. Thereafter Delhi riots victims themselves gave testimony how they were falsely charged and accused and were denied any compensation later on. Afterwards, the Sandeshkali issue of West Bengal was picked up to showcase how awareness regarding such sensitive issues is the need of the hour. Nirmal Kaur IPS, Former DGP, Jharkhand also suggested that we must not forget these instances. Furthermore, Shri. Deepak Mishra highlighted the role of police in riots and how they have to obey the law .

Afterwards Justice SN Dhingra emphasised upon the relevance of government accountability and collective efforts of citizenry by quoting “Yatha Praja, Tatha Raja” by mentioning how people should cooperate with police under given law and order and he urges the citizens to learn self defence and come up to share their grievances with them. BN Bassi,IPS also highlighted the accountability of the police system and awareness of citizenry.

A report on Information Warfare was released by GIA At the end, afterwards with Shradhanjali for victims of Delhi Riots 2020 with their memories being honoured, the session was finally concluded.

Advocate, convenor GIA (Group of Intellectuals and Academicians) Monika Arora, “stressed upon the emerging Next Gen Warfare: The Information Warfare’. She stated how radical and extremist forces turned the peaceful environment of the community into communal riots. She also brings out the issue of farmer’s protest, South cutting, and riots just before elections. She recommended following credible sources of news and information.”
