The roles of various Red-Jihadi outfits like Tablighi Jamaat, Popular Front of India, Jamia Coordination Committee, Pinjra Tod, etc., in the anti-Hindu Delhi riots, had emerged as the Crime Branch of Delhi Police filed a charge sheet in connection with the violence that took place in Shiv Vihar area. Delhi Police filed the charge sheet before a court in Delhi in connection with the arson of a private school owned by a Hindu in North East Delhi.
Another charge sheet on the murder of Intelligence Bureau employee Ankit Sharma was also filed. Delhi Police Crime Branch named suspended AAP councilor Hussain in the charge sheet, which states that he “led the mob from his house and also from the Masjid near Chand Bagh Pulia on February 24 & February 25 2020 and gave it a communal colour”.
Faisal Farooque, owner of Rajdhani School in Shiv Vihar locality, was among the 18 arrested for burning and damaging the property of the adjacent DRP Convent School, owned by a Hindu.
According to reports, the charge sheet also revealed how Faisal Farooque was related to the controversial Islamic organisation Tablighi Jamaat.
Apart from DRP Convent School, a sweet shop was also set on fire, and one of its employees, Dilbar Negi, was trapped inside. His charred dead body was found later, police said.
The Crime Branch of Delhi police filed the charge sheet before Metropolitan Magistrate Richa Parihar against Faisal Farooque and others for allegedly conspiring with the Popular Front of India, Pinjratod group, Jamia Coordination Committee and Hazrat Nizamuddin Markaz to create riots in and around the school.
Police alleged that “the rioters had camped inside and fired bullets from the terrace of Rajdhani School. They also threw petrol bombs, acid, bricks, stones and other missiles using an improvised large iron catapult, specially installed for the purpose, from the terrace of Rajdhani School.”
FIR filed against Amnesty International’s Aakar Patel
Karnataka Police registered an FIR against journalist and Amnesty International India’s Executive Director Aakar Patel for urging Muslims and Dalits to carry out the USA’s George Floyd-like protests in India.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, the case has been filed after Nagaraja DR, a police inspector at JC Nagar police station in Bengaluru, accused him of charges of provoking and instigating people from minority communities to organise similar protests across India.
Quoting a tweet by Colorado Times Recorder, Aakar Patel tweeted that Indian Muslims, Dalits, Vanvasis, women and the poor also need to do protests like these. “We need protests like these from Dalits, Muslims, and Vanvasis. And the poor. And women. The world will notice. Protest is a craft,” he tweeted. The original tweet carried a video clip showing thousands of people gathering near Colorado’s Capitol Building to protest against the alleged custodial murder of George Floyd.
In his complaint, Nagaraja D R accused Aakar Patel of provoking and instigating people belonging to minority communities to organise similar protests across India. Nagaraja stated that Patel had posted videos of Colorado protests and called on the minorities, backward, poor and women to stage protests.
Aakar Patel was booked under IPC sections 505(1)(b) (with intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the State or the public tranquillity), 153 (Wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 117 (Abetting commission of offence by the public or by more than ten persons).
Reacting to Deccan Herald on the FIR, Aakar Patel said, “I don’t think the case should have been registered. I don’t think it will go anywhere.”
“The rioters had used ropes to climb down from the terrace of Rajdhani School into the compound of DRP Convent School and then the mob had set the school on fire. The mob had looted the computers and other expensive items from DRP Convent School,” the charge sheet said.
The charge sheet said the “rioters” had also burned down a building which stood right in front of Rajdhani School on the other side of the road. In this case, eight persons, including Faisal Farooque, the owner of Rajdhani School, were arrested. During the investigation, it was found that Faisal Farooque had hatched a conspiracy to precipitate and aggravate riots in and around Rajdhani School.
“On Faisal Farooque’s instructions, the adjacent and rival DRP Convent School, 2 parking lots run by the other party and the building of Anil Sweets was systematically destroyed by the mob,” the charge sheet said.

According to reports, during the investigation by the Delhi Police Crime Branch, it was revealed that Farooque’s call detail analysis shows links with prominent members of Popular Front of India, Pinjratod Group, Jamia Coordination Committee, Hazrat Nizamuddin Markaz and some other fundamental Muslim clerics.”
The Delhi Police have filed several cases against members of radical Islamist outfit Popular Front of India, ultra-left wing Pinjra tod group, Jamia Coordination Committee, etc, for their involvement in the anti-Hindu riots that killed 53 people and left hundreds injured.
The case was registered on the complaint of the owner and manager of DRP Convent Public School. The charge sheet was filed under various sections of the IPC for the offences, including an attempt to murder (307), rioting (147 and 148), Promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, race, etc. (153-A), criminal conspiracy (120-B) and dacoity (395) and various sections of Arms Act.
