The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has issued a summons to Veena Vijayan. Serious Fraud Investigation Office has issued summons to Veena Vijayan, daughter of Kerala Chief Minister and owner of Exalogic Solutions, seeking various documents as part of its investigation into the financial dealings.
The SFIO is probing the financial dealings of Exalogic Solutions, the firm owned by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter Veena Vijayan, as well as Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd. (CMRL). In its notice, the SFIO asked Veena Vijayan to produce documents related to financial transactions between her company, Exalogic Solutions, and Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL).
Exalogic has also submitted a copy of the summons before the Karnataka High Court and prayed to stay the SFIO’s investigation. The same petition sought to quash the Ministry of Corporate Affairs Enquiry Order dated January 31, 2024.
Meanwhile, CPM has released a document defending the firm’s Chief Minister’s daughter ran. It is the part of the CPM’s endeavours to equip its rank and file to face the controversies regarding Exalogic Solutions. It was the first time that the CPM brought out pamphlets and documents for the party men about a case that faced investigation. The party remained a mute spectator when similar allegations came up against the sons of the late CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan a few years before. The document criticises the Union Government for allegedly manipulating Exalogic’s bank transactions, and it alleges that Central agencies fabricate lies to politically upset the development agenda of Pinarayi Vijayan.
The document says, the entire dealings of Exalogic are transparent. Union Government defames the State Government and its development agenda. The documents do not mention the names of Veena Vijayan and CMRL, the mining firm. It adds that Pinarayi Vijayan is targeted through Veena for political reasons.
Union Minister V Muraleedharan said that if the hands of the CM and his daughter are clean, as the CM claims, they should not shy away from the interrogation of the investigation agency; there is no point in moving the court seeking to stay the SFIO enquiry.
V Muraleedharan said that, both the giver and taker should have answers if the contract is between companies. Its absence paved the way for SFIO enquiry. He wondered why CPM justifies Veena; which party committee does she belong to? CPM did not follow the very same policy when Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son faced litigation. Those days, CPM leaders said, let the law take its own course. The same leaders keep on justifying the CM’s daughter.
V Muraleedharan said that he does not like to reply to LoP V D Satheesan’s allegation that BJP and CPM have reached some sort of compromise. BJP is not at all willing to compromise with CPM. That is why Veena Vijayan is issued SFIO notices, and Sivasankar, former Principal Secretary of the CM, is in jail. The Union Minister asked what prevents the Karnataka Government from moving forward with a CBI enquiry into Exalogic. V D Satheesan will not approach his party leadership for this. A compromise between Rahul Gandhi and V D Satheesan is hand in glove. It stops Satheesan from approaching Karnataka Congress leadership and the State Government there.
