“Mahtari Vandan Yojna”: Chhattisgarh Government to provide monthly assistance of Rs1000 to women residents

The Chhattisgarh government has announced that it will provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1000 to the Matrshakti (women) of the State. The State cabinet in a meeting held on Wednesday, January 31, announced to implementation the scheme with an eye-catching theme of “Sashakt Mahila Majboot Pradesh” (Empowered Women Strengthened State)

According to the information shared by the government, the bona-fide women of the State will get a monthly assistance of Rs1000 under the flagship Mahtari Vandan Yojna (Scheme) of the Vishnu Deo Sai-led government. The scheme would include all married women resident of the State above the age of 21 and will also include widows, divorcees, and destitute women, the government informed in an official statement.

Taking to X, the State’s Chief Minister (CM), Vishnu Deo Sai, while terming the scheme as a revolutionary step in the field of women empowerment, said that the State cabinet has approved the yearly assistance of Rs 12,000 to the married women residents, fulfilling one of the “guarantees of Modi”.

The scheme has been launched months after the Union Government, in a historic move, passed the “Nari Shakti Abhinandan Adhiniyam,” providing reservation to women in Parliament and State assemblies

The initiative is believed to be taken to further extend the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resolve to uplift and empower the womenfolk of the country assuring their vibrant participation in the mainstream.

It is worth mentioning that a number of similar schemes focused on the empowerment and upliftment of the Matrashakti have already been initiated and are being operationalised by the Union government across Bharat.

Taking it further, the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Seetharaman, announced on Thursday that the union government has decided to extend the benefits of the Lakhpati Didi Yojna to around 3 crore women across the country.

It is estimated that under the flagship scheme launched by the government, at least 1 crore women have got help through 83 lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs) operational across Bharat. The announcement was made during the interim budget speech of the finance minister on February 1. Further, it’s also been disclosed that a whopping loan amount of Rs 30 crores has been so far granted to women entrepreneurs via Mudra Yojna.

Passing of “Nari Shakti Abhinandan Adhiniyam”

It is to be noted that earlier, the Union Government in a historic move adapted the “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam” paving way for 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State assemblies in September last year.

The bill passed with record votes in parliament won accolades from all quarters as it fulfilled the long-held promise of all the political parties, including the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)

Addressing a public gathering after the passing of the historic legislature, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that “The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is not an ordinary law; this is a proclamation of the New India’s democratic commitment. This is evidence of Modi’s guarantee of women-led development,” he said.

He further remarked,  “Our Government has made such schemes, one after the other and started such programs so that our sisters get a life of respect, convenience, security and prosperity. Our BJP Government has had the privilege of fulfilling the dreams of millions of mothers and sisters. Therefore, as a party that considers the nation first, as BJP workers, as responsible citizens, it is a matter of pride for us.”
