In a move aimed at enhancing air connectivity and facilitating pilgrimage travel, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is set to launch eight new flight routes for Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, commencing from February 1, 2024. This strategic initiative comes in the wake of the recent Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the historic Sri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which has significantly augmented the city’s tourism potential.

The new flight routes will establish direct air links between Ayodhya and several key cities across India, including Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Patna, Darbhanga, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. This development marks a significant milestone in the efforts to boost accessibility to Ayodhya, particularly for pilgrims seeking to visit the revered Sri Ram Mandir.

“The Ministry of Civil Aviation is committed to enhancing air connectivity for the holy city of Ayodhya, thus facilitating the arrival of pilgrims and tourists alike,” stated the ministry in an official announcement. The introduction of these new flight routes underscores the Government’s proactive approach towards promoting religious and cultural tourism while fostering economic and social development in the region.

The inauguration of the flight services is slated to be officiated by Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel Jyotiraditya Scindia. The operations will be managed by SpiceJet, a leading domestic airline known for its extensive network and reliable services.

The decision to launch these flight routes comes in the aftermath of the grand consecration ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22. The auspicious occasion witnessed the Prime Minister performing sacred rituals, including symbolically opening the eyes of the Ram Lalla murti and offering prayers, signifying the culmination of years of anticipation and devotion.

Since its inauguration, the Sri Ram Mandir has emerged as a focal point of religious fervour, attracting a steady stream of devotees from across India and beyond. The influx of pilgrims underscores the spiritual significance of Ayodhya and highlights the need for improved infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of visitors.

The commencement of these new flight routes is poised to address this demand by providing pilgrims and tourists with convenient and efficient travel options.
