Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi’s optimistic vision about Ram Rajya being established in Bharat aligns with the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, emphasising the cultural and spiritual significance of the forthcoming event of Pran Prathistha of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir. India takes steps towards realising the dream of “Ram Rajya,” thereby symbolising an era of righteous and harmonious governance.
At a gathering organized by the Thanjai Mandala Hindu Aalaya Paadhukappu Iyakkam, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi expressed his vision of Bharat evolving into a “Ram Rajya.” The event, held at Therazhuudur, the birthplace of the renowned poet Kamban, focused on celebrating the literary legacy of the Tamil poet who authored the Ramayan. Governor Ravi highlighted the significance of Bhagwan Ram in India’s cultural fabric, emphasising that the soul of Bharat is intertwined with the principles of “Ram Rajyam.” He commended Kamban for popularising the Ramayan in a lucid and accessible manner, reaching the hearts and minds of common people.
Addressing the audience on the theme “Ayodhi Ramanum Tamizh Kambanum,” Governor Ravi reflected on the proud moment of speaking on Kambar’s birth soil. He underscored the influence of Kamban’s work in various Tamil literary compositions, including Silapathikaram, Manimegalai, Agananooru, and Purananooru. Ravi urged the preservation and promotion of Kamban’s legacy, especially among the youth, and asserted that Kamban’s contributions to making the Ram Katha accessible to the masses deserve everlasting remembrance.
Governor Ravi acknowledged the constitutional representation of Bhagwan Ram, revealing that the original constitution featured a painting of Lord Ram’s crowning ceremony. He praised Kamban’s role in simplifying the epic for broader understanding, enabling translations of the Ramayan into numerous languages across Bharat.
The function aimed to celebrate Kamban, who lived during the Chola era, and included the presentation of prizes to seven individuals honoured in Kamban’s name. Governor Ravi further visited the Amaruviappan temple and the Kambar Memorial, where he paid respects to the poet by placing a garland at his statue.
During his two-day visit to Trichy, Thanjavur, and Mayiladuthurai districts, Governor Ravi explored Kambarmedu in Therazhandur, believed to be Kamban’s birthplace. Prior to the event, he visited the Srirangam Ranganathar temple with his wife, participating in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for cleanliness by personally cleaning a part of the temple premises. Governor Ravi shared his views with the media, emphasising the importance of devotees and local communities actively participating in maintaining temple cleanliness.
Governor Ravi affirmed that temples have historically been the focal point of people’s lives, influencing traditions, heritage, and the development of surrounding villages. He stressed that the responsibility for temple cleanliness extends beyond the temple administration and rests with devotees and local communities. The governor urged collective efforts to uphold the sanctity and neatness of temples, emphasising their integral role in the cultural, social, and historical tapestry of the region.
