Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai-led Chhattisgarh government is all set to celebrate December 25, the birth anniversary of former prime minister and one of the pioneers of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Atal Bihari Vajpayee as “Sushasan Divas” (Good Governance day) across the State.

The Sushasan Divas will be celebrated on December 25, throughout the state and programmes will be organised at districts, block and the ‘gram panchayat’ level. A weeklong cleanliness drive will also kick off in every gram panchayat, informed the Department of Public Relation (DPR) Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, December 20.

Instructions about organising the ‘Sushasan Divas’  have already been passed to the concerned officials at district levels by the Panchayat and the rural development department’s upper principal secretary. The officials have been asked to rebuild or repair the Atal pillar (Atal Stambh) installed in every gram panchayat of the State.

It’s been learned that the programmes at village panchayat and district level will commence from the Atal pillar, where the political representatives and common people will pay tribute to the former prime minister with a resolve to establish Sushasan in the state.

Bonus money for farmers

Additionally, the newly formed Chhattisgarh government will also release the bonus money for the farmers on the same day. The bonus money given on rice of the year 2014-15 and 15-16 which the BJP promised to release after forming the government will be released on December 25, informed CM Sai in a press briefing after the searing-in ceremony on December 13th.

According to the details, a total of 22, 82,000 farmers will be provided with the bonus money of around Rs 3700 crores. It is worth mentioning here that in the run-up to the state assembly elections, the BJP, in its manifesto, had promised to release the remaining amount of the bonus money of its earlier tenure.

Claims of Good Governance

During the month-long election campaign, the BJP aggressively campaigned against the Congress government for failing to contain the spurt in crime and claimed that the BJP will once again establish the rule of law and ‘Sushasan’ if voted to power.

Recently, after taking oath as the Deputy Chief Minister, Arun Sao, the former BJP president of the state under whom the party made an impressive return to power, said, “that this is not a type of government which will do appeasement politics, and the criminals should leave Chhattisgarh as soon as possible; otherwise, the bulldozer of law will hunt them down for sure.”

pic.twitter.com/C1eVUbPpfS

— Arun Sao (@ArunSao3) December 17, 2023

It is pertinent to mention here that in the run-up to the state assembly elections, the BJP also made, “Humne Banaya Hai Ham Hi Sawarenge” slogan as one of their prime campaign slogan indicating that the state was crafted out under the Vajpayee led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) tenure and the party will take care of its development.
