In a major success for security forces as many as 10 lower-rung cadres of the banned Maoist outfit have been nabbed during a specific operation launched in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh on Monday, December 18, according to sources familiar with the development.
According to the reports, a joint team of security forces comprising personnel from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar fighters was out on an operation in the Bechapal region of Dantewada where they nabbed a total of 10 Maoists involved in carrying out attacks on security forces and acts of vehicle torching.
It’s been reported that the Dantewada police have some intel about the presence of a group of Maoists in the Bechapal region following which a joint team was dispatched to the location. Upon arriving in the region, the team saw a group of men attempting to run away, following which the personnel chased and nabbed the extremists.
The nabbed accused are members of separate frontal outfits of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), including the Dandkaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (DAKMS), Jan militia, and Chetna Natya Mandali (CNM), a cultural offshoot of the outlawed group. Some of the ultras nabbed by the security forces are also carrying a bounty on their heads while a few of them were allegedly involved in the Rani Bodli and Bhansi attacks carried out by the extremists.
In another similar news a separate team of security forces also destroyed a Maoist structure in Satlong village of Maoist-affected Sukma district on Monday. The structure was demolished near the very region where the Maoists had triggered back-to-back IEDs explosions lately. It’s been learned that the action taken by the security forces was part of the ongoing counter-insurgency drive launched by the forces after back-to-back Maoist-related incidents rocked the tribal-dominated state in the last week.

It is worth mentioning here that the CM, Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday, December 17, and instructed them to take all the necessary steps to curb the spread of insurgency in the state. The CM after the meeting, assured that his government would work in accordance with the union government to uproot the Maoist insurgency in the state.
The meeting was called in wake of back-to-back incidents of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosions detonated by the extremists in separate places alongside an attack on the security personnel near Bedre camp under Jagargunda police station limits of Sukma within a span of only five days.
It is to be noted that as many as three security personnel, including a sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force have lost their lives in three major attacks carried out by the extremists in the last week.
