Assam Rifles and police commandos of Thoubal, in a joint operation, recovered arms, ammunition, and war-like stores from Salam Patong and Moidangpok on Saturday, a statement issued by Assam Rifles said.
Acting on a tip-off, security forces established a cordon around the village and started an extensive search, which resulted in the recovery of two weapons, twelve hand grenades, including stun and tear grenades, three 40 mm shells, two radio sets, and two arming rings.

At village Moidangpok in Imphal West district of Manipur, joint teams of the Army, IW Police, CRPF and police commandos launched a joint cordon and search operation based on a specific input regarding the presence of war-like stores.

Acting upon the information, the security forces established a cordon around the village and started an extensive search which resulted in the recovery of one CMG, four hand grenades, four Chinese grenades, one stun and tear grenade each, ONE 9 mm pistol, one locally made pistol, six shotgun shells, one unexploded heavy calibre ammunition and one launching tube of SLR.

Assam: Police recover 70 cattle heads from two trucks at Jorabat

In another separate incident, Assam Police foiled an interstate cattle smuggling bid and recovered 70 cattle heads from two trucks at the Jorabat area in Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) district along the Assam-Meghalaya border on December 9, 2023.

According to police, a team of East Guwahati Police District from the Jorabat Outpost of Basistha police station intercepted two trucks near the Jorabat crossing area on Saturday.

“During the search, the police team recovered 70 live cattle heads from the trucks. No person was arrested during the operation. The smugglers had tried to smuggle the cattle to Meghalaya,” a police official of Guwahati City Police said.Further probe is on.

Earlier on December 3, Guwahati city police recovered and seized 60 cattle heads from two trucks near the Nazirakhat Toll Gate area.
