The Uttar Pradesh government has announced to celebrate January 22 as a grand festival in commemoration of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. State Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh revealed the elaborate plans, highlighting the cultural and religious significance of the event.

The celebration of the Ram Temple Consecration includes recitations of Ram Charitmanas and Hanuman Chalisa in temples and ‘muths,’ along with cultural programs by local artists facilitated by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Council. The celebration symbolises a unifying force, fostering cultural and religious harmony in Uttar Pradesh.

The festivities are set to kick off on January 14, marking Makar Sankranti, and will extend until the consecration ceremony on January 22, 2024. During this period, the state government has organised the recitation of the revered scriptures, Ram Charitmanas and Hanuman Chalisa, in all prestigious temples and ‘muths’ across Uttar Pradesh. The recitations, considered auspicious and spiritually uplifting, aim to involve the local communities in the joyous celebration.

Local artists, facilitated by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Council established in every district, will present diverse cultural programs throughout this period. The initiative is designed to showcase the rich heritage and artistic talent prevalent in the state. Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasised that this unique celebration would not only be a religious event but also a platform for promoting and preserving the cultural diversity of Uttar Pradesh.

The Tourism and Culture Department will bear the expenses of this grand event, ensuring that the celebrations are accessible to people from all walks of life. This financial commitment underscores the government’s dedication to fostering cultural and religious harmony in the state.

Furthermore, the District Tourism and Culture Council in each district will play a pivotal role in organising the continuous recitation of Ramcharitmanas and Hanuman Chalisa from Makar Sankranti until the consecration of Ramlala on January 22, 2024. This decentralised approach aims to involve local communities, making the celebration more inclusive and representative of Uttar Pradesh’s diverse cultural landscape.

The state culture department is actively engaged in making necessary preparations for the grand festival. As the countdown begins, meticulous planning is underway to ensure a seamless and memorable celebration. Officials are coordinating with local artists, religious institutions, and community leaders to create an atmosphere that reflects the essence of this momentous occasion.

The celebration of the Ram temple consecration as a state festival signifies the cultural and spiritual significance that Ayodhya holds in the hearts of millions. It not only marks a religious milestone but also serves as a unifying force, bringing people together in shared reverence for their heritage.

As Uttar Pradesh prepares to witness this grand festival, the nation watches with anticipation, recognising the importance of commemorating such historic events that contribute to the rich tapestry of India’s cultural heritage.
