In a significant step towards the realisation of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple project, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has reached a crucial phase in the selection process for priests who will officiate at the upcoming Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. With an overwhelming response of about 3,000 applications, the Trust has meticulously shortlisted 200 candidates based on merit for the final interview.

The venue for these decisive interviews is Karsevakpuram, situated in the heart of the temple town, where candidates face a rigorous examination by a distinguished three-member panel. Comprising Hindu preacher Jaykant Mishra from Vrindavan, along with Mahants Mithilesh Nandini Shran and Satyanarayan Das from Ayodhya, the panel is vested with the responsibility of identifying the most qualified individuals to serve as priests in the hallowed Ram Janmabhoomi complex.

Govind Dev Giri, the Treasurer of the Ram Mandir Trust, expressed that even those candidates who do not make the final cut will receive certificates and an opportunity to be considered for future priestly positions that may arise.

The gruelling interview process delves into the intricate details of various pujas, with candidates being tested on their knowledge of rituals such as ‘Sandhya Vandan,’ including its procedures and mantras, as well as special mantras and ‘karma kand’ related to the worship of Bhagwan Ram.

Following the interview phase, the Trust will meticulously choose 20 candidates who will undergo an intensive six-month residential training program. Karsevakpuram, home to offices of several Hindu organisations, including the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), will host the training, which will be crafted based on a religious syllabus prepared by eminent seers.

During this training period, the selected candidates will receive free food and lodging facilities, ensuring a focused and immersive learning experience. To support their dedication and commitment, each candidate will also be provided with a monthly stipend of Rs 2,000.

The successful completion of the training will culminate in the appointment of the chosen 20 candidates as priests at various posts within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. This marks a pivotal moment in the journey towards the realisation of the Ram Mandir, as the selected priests will play a vital role in the religious affairs and rituals conducted within the revered precincts.

As Ayodhya continues to witness this historic process unfold, the Ram Mandir Trust remains steadfast in its commitment to securing individuals of the highest calibre to serve as custodians of the spiritual sanctity surrounding the Ram Janmabhoomi. The selection of these priests not only signifies a step towards fulfilling a longstanding vision but also underscores the meticulous care and reverence with which this sacred endeavour is being pursued.
