In the ongoing Telangana Elections 2023, the Jamat-e-Islami Hind's Telangana Chapter has declared its endorsement for the forthcoming state assembly elections.

During its press conference held on November 22 in Hyderabad, Abdul Majeed Shoed, vice president of Jamat-e-Islami Hind Telangana and convenor of its political committee, said after reviewing with its local units, Jamat members and workers discussed contesting political candidates in their respective constituencies.

He continued by saying that Jamat E Islami Hind had examined these local viewpoints, developed suggestions, and sent them to Jamat’s central leadership for approval. Following approval from central leadership, the announcement was made.

The Telangana chapter of Jamat-e-Islami Hind has stated its support for the Congress in 67 seats, 42 BRS seats, 1 CPI seat, 1 BSP seat, and 7 AIMIM seats in the 119 constituencies that are now holding elections.

This news conference by Jamat-e-Islami Hind makes it evident that they have political agendas, and actively influencing the Muslim community as though common Muslims were their political prisoners, and lack the authority to cast votes in accordance with their intelligence and knowledge.

Today, Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao thanked Mufti Gayasuddin, president of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind – TS and AP chapters and general secretary Mufti Zuber for declaring support to the BRS.

Jamat-e-Islami Hind as a religious body operates in various wings like Women’s Units, the Students’ Islamic organisation, the Girls’ Islamic Organization and the Idara-e-Adab-e-Islami. It also runs various trusts and societies, run masajid, madrasas, schools, colleges, hospitals projects.

In September 2022, Recently, Maulana Hamid Muhammad Khan President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Telangana, was against raids carried out by NIA and ED against PFI in various places of the state and the country.

The same Jamat-e-Islami Hind Telangana unit actively organises several programs targeting non-Muslim women to convert them into Islamic fold. In 2022, they organised Grand Get Together particularly for non-Muslim women.

Recently, another faction, the Telangana Muslim Organisations Joint Action Committee, lead by Shaik Yousuf Baba al-Sky Baba released a Muslim declaration in Hyderabad, containing 22 demands that any political party seeking the support of Muslims must commit to fulfilling.

The demands include political representation with 10–12 reserved seats or nominated posts in parliament or state council. 10-12 per cent reservation in education and jobs. Subsidised loans of Rs. 2 lakh for Muslims in informal jobs, and reserve fund of Rs. 1000 crore each year for this purpose. A special fund called ‘Grant in Aid’ for mosque renovations during Ramadan.(Zakat like scheme). State declaration against the implementation of the NRC and CAA. Lands for Muslim burial grounds and maintenance Monthly honorarium for Imams and Muezzins. 66 post-matric hostels in 33 districts. Promotion and support of the Urdu language. Establishment of the Waqf Board as a Commissionerate with judicial power and appointment of Waqf inspectors for each district Adding the Mehtar community into SC category.

With this list Muslim JAC is touring the different parts of the state, to influence their community highlighting that Telangana Muslims constitute 13 percent of the vote share and plays a decisive role in nearly 40 constituencies in Telangana.
