Khalistani terrorist and chief supremo of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, has released another video threatening to shut down the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the final match between India and Australia on November 18, 2023. After this, the Central agencies and Gujarat Police have been placed on high alert to tackle any eventuality during the match, which will be attended by PM Narendra Modi and Deputy PM Richard Marles of Australia
The Threat Video
In the video, the founder of the Khalistani terrorist organisation and outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) could also be seen talking about the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the 2002 Gujarat Riots, thus trying to incite the Muslim and Christian communities. He also talked about India’s stand in the Israel-Hamas War. In the fresh threat video, Pannun said: “Also on November 19, 2023, the global Sikh community is going to boycott Air-India from the Ahmedabad airport, Amritsar, and Delhi. Shut down these airports on November 19 and boycott Air India. Additionally, he refers to the ICC Cricket World Cup as the World Terror Cup.
November 19 is significant for Pannun and other Khalistani Sikhs as it is the birth anniversary of the third Prime Minister of India, the Iron Lady, Indira Gandhi.
After this threat made in this video, several security agencies are actively guarding airports and other strategic air installations, especially those at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, and the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) of New Delhi. In particular, the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport is under the security scanners and watchful eyes of the Indian security agencies, mostly the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF)
Previous Threats
This is not the first time when Pannun has made such threats. Earlier in October 2023, he threatened PM Narendra Modi to learn from the Israel-Palestine Conflict lest a similar reaction comes unravels in India. “People under the illegal occupation from Punjab to Palestine will react, and violence begets violence,” he said.
In the month of September 2023, the Cybercrime Police had registered a complaint against Pannun for allegedly threatening to disrupt the opening match of the World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 5, 2023.
Legal Charges on Pannun
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has been charged with waging war against the Indian state or government of India (Indian Penal Code-IPC-121), promoting enmity between different groups under IPC-153A, criminal conspiracy (IPC-120B) and various sections of the UAPA (Unlawful Activities and Prevention Acts) and the IT Act.
