Imphal: The situation in trouble hit Manipur further deteriorated. At the Kangchup Chingkhong area, a Bolero carrying five individuals (2 women and 3 men) en-route from Churachandpur to Leimakhong was confronted by an enraged mob. The mob forcibly took away four of them while one escaped. One person from the group was later rescued by security forces and further airlifted by chopper to Dimapur for medical treatment.
The whereabouts of the other four individuals, including the one who escaped, remain unknown. Security forces are actively working to locate the missing individuals and rescue them.
Amidst the confrontation between the mob and the security forces, armed miscreants exchanged fire in the areas of K. Songlung hill range, Koutruk and Tairenpokpi. In this incident, two police personnel and seven civilians sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital. Security forces could eventually bring the situation under control. Further, security forces carried out search operations in the area and destroyed one bunker.
On the other hand, on November 8, the state police of Manipur recovered the dead bodies of two unidentified persons, one male and one female, from the state’s Kangchup area.
According to reports, the bodies are suspected to be the four persons who were forcibly abducted from the Kangchup area on November 7 night. Sources said that the female body was recovered with a bullet injury on her head in the adjoining region between Tairenpokpi and Atom Khuman under Lamsang Police Station, Imphal West
Meanwhile, search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-East, Thoubal, Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal districts.
The following arms and ammunition were recovered during the operations. The security forces recovered one arm (SMG Carbine-01), sixty-three ammunitions, one explosive, 36 Hand Grenade with ring-01, 19 magazines (SMG Carbine -03, INSAS LMG16), 06 Anti-riot shells, one Tube Launching, four INSAS Rifle, one Gas
- Cylinder Caps, seven 7.62 SLR Ammunition Charger Clip and three Empty Ammunition Carrier Boxes were recovered from Khundrakpam Mayai
- Leikai, Heingang PS, Imphal East District.
- Seven Kg. explosive iron pellets, five grams of Gun powder, six GI pipe, one bullet proof jacket, two
Pumpi bomb shells and three two-Wheeler vehicles were recovered from TYangnom village, under Moreh police station in Tengnoupal District.
