Drugs worth Rs 59 crores seized in Mizoram; STF nab smugglers Habibur, Alimuddin and Indris with  60000 YaBa tablets

Based on specific intelligence input Mizoram police team conducted a random check at the Zokhawthar Immigration Check Post. During the check, they discovered and confiscated 70,000 tablets of Methamphetamine, weighing 7 kilograms. The estimated value of the seized drugs is Rs. 17,525,000 in the black market.

The illegal possession was found in a white-coloured truck with the registration number MZ04-A/4629. The contraband belonged to Thangtinkap, a 40-year-old male from Leisenzo Village, Champhai District. The contraband was wrapped in seven black polythenes, which were concealed inside a black sachet. The authorities immediately seized the vehicle and arrested the accused. A case has been registered at Zokhawthar police station under sections 22 (c)/25/29 of the NDPS Act for further investigation and legal action.

In another instance, the Zokhawthar police station team and 42 Assam Rifles, while conducting a joint operation at Tiau River on 16th October arrested one Laldinlian (34) of Taitesena Section, Zokhawthar Village and recovered and seized 1,71,700 tablets of Methamphetamine, weighing 17 Kgs, valued Rs.42,925,000 crores in black market. Preliminary investigation and interrogation of arrested accused reveals that the consignments were being peddled from Myanmar. Further thorough investigation for both the cases along with Joint Interrogation are now under progress to ascertain the forward linkages as well.

It should be mentioned that on October 5, in yet another huge success in ‘War On Drugs’ Aizawl District Special Branch (DSB) team intercepted one vehicle MZ01- 7001 (Tata Intra) at Zemabawk East and seized 11.6 Kgs of Crystal Methamphetamine worth Rs. 34 Crores from the illegal possession of Ropianga (37) of Khawmawi, Myanmar. A case was registered under section 22 (c)/25 NDPS Act, 1985 r/w 14 Foreigners Act, 1946 for further investigation and necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, acting on a Source information that a drug deal was to be struck at a location in front of Rahman Hospital at Six Mile in Guwahati on 17th October an STF team swung into action. Huge quantities of banned contraband were seized in the successful operation. Three drug smugglers were apprehended from a Manipuri Rice Hotel in front of Rahman Hospital, Six Mile and 60,000 Ya Ba tablets were recovered from their possession. The arrested drug smugglers were identified as Habibur Rahman(49) from Manipur, Alimuddin ( 46) and Idrish Ali (38) of Assam.

A case has been registered at STF and necessary legal action is being initiated. On the other hand, STF Assam swift action at Guwahati Railway Station Parking area led to the arrest of 12 drug peddlers, including 4 women on 16th October night. All of them were caught red-handed with 104 vials containing heroin, cash Rs 45,000. 2 scooty m/cycles and incriminating items were also seized. STF said that the gang were active in the Guwahati rail station area for a long period. Police were eyeing on them and wanted to arrest the whole gang together.
