Tamil Nadu: SDPI urges Central Government to support Palestine in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), allegedly linked to the banned Islamist outfit PFI, took to streets and has asked the Central Government that it should back Palestine and not Israel in the ongoing war with Hamas.

In Tamil Nadu, barring the BJP, all the other political parties DMK, AIADMK, VCK, CPI, CPM, PMK , Muslim and other fringe outfits vehemently trying to outwit in each other in demanding vociferously freeing prematurely Muslim prisoners languishing in jails convicted and sentenced for terrorist activities, while Muslims (SDPI) took to the streets urging central government should not support Israel for dominating Palestine -Hamas war. Bharat has expressed its solidarity with its long-term friend Israel at the time of crisis. The Congress and its I.N.D.I Alliance partners have taken sides with Palestine.

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has given a call for conducting meetings across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Kerala in support of Palestinians “fighting for liberation” amid the Israel-Hamas war. Accordingly, SDPI members held protests all over the state in all district headquarters on October 11.

DPI cadres in Goripalayam in Madurai held a demonstration in Madurai on October 11 demanding that the Central government support the rights of Palestinians in the ongoing Palestine-Israel standoff. The members of the outfit raised slogans in support of their demands. SDPI state secretary Najma Begum told the gathering in the presence of Madurai district president Bilal Deen. The speakers strongly condemned Israel’s actions in the war. They wanted the central government to stand in solidarity with Palestinians.

In Chennai, SDPI supporters gathered near the Collectorate and shouted slogans in support of their demand. They condemned Israel for its aggression and for its brutal attacks on Gaza and civilians. “To bring peace in the Middle East, India, world nations, and the UN should interfere to prevent Israel from encroaching on Palestine nation. Chennai North Zone president Mohammed Rashid presided over the protest, while SDPI’s state general secretary Asa Umar Barook condemned the Israel action. Police detained them for unlawful assembly and released them later without filing any cases.

SDPI, in a statement, said, “The Israeli Zionist regime is killing people inch by inch through severe measures like cutting off drinking water, essential medicines and electricity. The agreements and peace terms made through international peace talks have been violated, and the Palestinian people have been made refugees in the land of their birth. Palestinian civilians are being killed and imprisoned on a daily basis through military interventions. It’s the struggle for survival of the struggling Palestinian people that is going on now. The Israeli government is fully responsible for the current bloodshed and massacres. It is the duty of all humane people to show support and solidarity to the freedom struggle of the Palestinian people”.

According to Intelligence and police sources, almost all Muslim groups are holding protests in the next 5 days. Now the Cauvery or other burning issues are not important. Some say the raising the premature release of Muslim prisoners is only to divert the attention from the just concluded IT and ED raids and seizure of several hundred crores of foreign and Indian currency hid in gunny bags at a mortuary ( in Dental college !) and other premises linked to DMK MP Jagatharatshakan.

Journalist Ganesan said “ The DMK, its allies and AIADMK could come together in the making in one voice earnestly for the premature release of Muslim prisoners including Coimbatore bomb blasts convicts, why can’t they show the same spirit and zeal in other issues related to the welfare and interests of state like urging Karnataka to let water in Cauvery? All these political parties want the early release of Muslim prisoners more particularly terrorists. They also showed the same in the release 6 Tamils ( Sri Lankan nationals) convicted in the former PM Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. For the lives of innocent people who were killed in the attacks are immaterial. For them, Muslim lives are precious. State Assembly could be convened to discuss the matter pass resolutions. They could pressurise the constitutional authorities by passing courts and their directions. Lakhs of people, including trial prisoners, are still expecting justice and bail. Had they shown even a small amount of concern or initiative for the hapless poor prisoners ( Hindu), it would have helped their families and restored their livelihood. When DMK minister Udhaynidhi Stalin sought the abolition of sana tana dharma, barring BJP, none of them opened their mouths. It showed their double standard and clear rank minority appeasement. The partisan attitude of the Dravidian Model (DMK) government again and again showed its actions. Permission to hold protests, rallies even religious one were denied for Hindu outfits and BJP. The police denied permission to devotees of Lord Muruga to undertake foot march to Chennimalai”

On 13th Hindu Munnani and other Hindu parivars planned to hold demonstrations to oppose the move by Christian Front to change the name Chennimalai as “Kalvaari Mala” and “Yesu Mala. Hindu Munnani sources said they are ready to defy the police orders and will go ahead with our protest.
