G20 overspending claim is misleading: PIB issues rebuttal; netizens slam Saket Gokhle for spreading wrong information

Press Information Bureau has described the tweet of Saket Gokhle in which he has alleged that Modi government spent a whopping 300 per cent more on G20 than the funds allocated in budget as fake and misleading.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact check has issued a rebuttal over the fake tweet and has added that the quoted expenditure is majorly towards permanent asset creation by ITPO & other infrastructure development which is not limited to hosting G20 Summit alone.

Saket Gokhle, who is Member of Parliament, national spokesperson of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in his tweet tried to mislead the nation by spreading false news.

Netizens call for stringent action against Saket Gokhale

Soon after PIB’s fact check described the tweet by Gokhlae as fake, netizens came down heavily on Gokhale.

One of the netizen Raj Devar said if it is Saket Gokhale we do need more than a pinch of salt, probably a pound. One prevention is to actually publish numbers, like a dashboard for everyone to cross check.

Another netizen, Sushant, quetsioned the credibility of Gokhale and siad, “Can’t understand why does Saketh Gookhale keep getting exposed by PIB. Habitual offender and a serial liar.”

Prasanna Iyer stated that there is need to file case against such fake news peddlers.

It has been alleged that in the past also Saket Gokhale was involved in spreading wrong news.
