A ‘Kerala Story (a Bollywood film)’ like case was reported from the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh last week. In this case, a Muslim woman identified as Shifat Ansari befriended a Dalit woman, later force-fed her beef, saying, ‘Dharm Bhrasht kar diya’. Later, two of Shifat’s co-religionists raped her and filmed the act while intoxicated. In all of this, the three accused were interlinked. They later started blackmailing the victim to give them Rs 5 Lakha against the video and on failing to provide the money, they shared the clip with her fiance. Following the victim’s complaint, an FIR (First Information Report) was lodged and the accused were detained by the police.
The incident is said to have happened on September 2. In the following days, the victim lodged the complaint.
Notably, out of courtesy, the victim lent money to Shifat, who was in need of Rs 30,000 some time ago. When Shifat did not return the money on time, the victim politely asked her to return it before September. It was decided that for the exchange of money, they would meet at Tapri Cafe, located in the DD Puram area of the city. When the victim reached there, Shifat was already present with Shoaib and Nadeem.
Amidst the discussion, they made an excuse and left the cafe, asking the victim to come to the Rajni Hotel located in the Satellite Square area. After two hours when the victim reached the Hotel, the person at the reception asked her to go to the room where Shifat was waiting for her.
As soon as the victim reached the room, she saw Shoaib and Nadeem sitting with Shifat. They offered her some food and a cold drink. After taking them the woman lost consciousness, as if she was drugged. In the meantime, the accused also fed her kebabs made out of beef.
When she regained consciousness, the three said, “Humne tera Dharm Bharsht kar diya” (We spoilt your religion, by feeding beef). They told her how the men raped her and the woman recorded the video. They began blackmailing her saying, “Forget your 30,000 if you will not give us Rs 5 Lakh we will make your nude clip viral on social media”
The next day, the victim received another call for the money, on failing to pay the amount the accused sent her nude clip to her fiance. After the video was shared by the accused on September 4, the victim lodged a complaint against all the accused.
Notably, as per the victim’s statement, the accused booked the three accused under sections of Rape, criminal intimidation, assault, and other sections with the SC-ST Act. The police detained the accused following the FIR.
The police informed that the accused Shoaib is doing B Pharma, whereas Nadeem works as a hairdresser. After sharing the video of the victim with her fiance, the accused were planning to move to Kashmir where Nadeem runs a shop. They know Shifat as a friend.
