Haryana’s Nuh violence: 2 dead, several policemen injured; CM Khattar appeals for peace

In one of the worst communal clashes in Haryana, the Islamists mob in a systematic way attacked VHP’s shobha yatra. The Nuh town of Haryana burnt in flames, several people including policemen were severely injured and two homeguards were allegedly killed in the clashes.

Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar has appealed to the people of Haryana to maintain peace. Khattar stated, “Today’s incident is unfortunate, I appeal to all the people to maintain peace in the state. The guilty will not be spared at any cost, strictest action will be taken against them,” tweets Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar on the Nuh incident.”

Haryana’s home minister Anil Vij, while speaking to the media persons stated that they have sought help from the central government also. He said, “Adequate force is being deployed there. We’ve also spoken to the Centre. We are trying to restore peace there. All those who are stranded in different areas of Mewat region are being rescued.” There were reports that were doing rounds that at least 2,500 Hindus were left stranded in a temple.

Nuh Deputy Commissioner had earlier called a meeting of both parties at 8:30 pm. Earlier on July 31 a clash broke out between two groups in Nuh area. Police force has been deployed in the area.

Nuh Deputy Commissioner Prashant Panwar says, “Police are investigating the matter. Internet services have been suspended for 3 days. Section 144 has been imposed in the district. Curfew orders have been given…We appeal to all to maintain peace. All stranded people have been rescued… 1 casualty has been reported. The situation is normal now and curfew has been imposed in the district…”

Vanadalised property was seen all around in the aftermath of the clashes in Haryana’s Nuh.

In wake of the violent clashes, the internet services were suspended in Haryana’s Nuh till August 2 and section 144 was imposed till August 8. The police forces conducted a flag march in violence hit  Haryana’s Nuh.

Haryana police had confirmed that two personnel of the Gurugram Police had lost their lives in the communal clashes. One was home guard Gursewak and other was Homeguard Neeraj.

Earlier, in the day the Islamists mob attacked the people at large in Nuh. They burnt a number of vehicles, damaged property and there was complete blood shed. The magnitude of the attack clearly indicated that it was pre-planned. There was stone pelting, burning of vehicles and people soaked in blood were seen running for their lives.
