One of the most violent acts have come to the fore when police arrested Madavi Hidma who is the main accused in the rape of a six years old girl. The victim was residing in a government girls hostel in Potakebin under Errabore police station limits of Sukma.

Police apprehend the accused

Sukma Police issued a press release in which it said that the accused Madavi has been nabbed after analysing the tower dump of the mobile of the accused. The development occurred after the incident sparked a huge outrage among the locals and on social media following which the police swung into action and launched a manhunt to arrest the accused who allegedly barged into the government run shelter home/hostel on the night of July 22 and abducted a six year girl, later the accused raped the girl in a nearby field and fled the spot.

In a press release pertaining to the arrest of the accused Sukma police informed ‘that a case against the accused Madavi had already been filed under section 4/5(d)/6 of the POCSO Act along with other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and an eight members special investigation team was formed.’

“The team, after questioning a number of people and a mobile tower dump analysis of the accused, arrested Madavi Hidma, a resident of Errabore. The accused has also been identified by the victim”, informed Sukma police in a press release shared on twitter.

Police apprehend girls hostel warden

The police have also apprehended the girls hostel warden, Heena Khan, after it was revealed that Heena deliberately did not inform the police or her senior officials about the case on time. An FIR under section 21 of POCSO act and relevant sections of IPC has been registered against Heena and she was being produced before the magistrate, read the press release further.

It’s been learnt that the hostel superintendent Heena Khan and her CRC husband Jagir Khan have also been suspended after various groups demanded strict action against Heena and other officials for tampering of evidence and not informing the police about the brutal assault on time.

Students and women delegation press for fair probe

Meanwhile a joint delegation of a few students union and women federation after visiting the shelter home demanded that a fair probe should be conducted into the matter while an FIR should also be registered against the CRC, DEO and other district officials under POCSO Act.

The delegation in its report also claimed that the victim girl was later traced by the fellow students in a disastrous state after the hostel superintendent Heena Khan refused to entertain the calls of the students. The victim girl was then sent back to her mother on the next day and it was only when the mother of the victim girl found signs of assault and blood while assisting her taking bath that she was rushed to the hospital. Later on it was found that the girl’s clothes were also changed by the hostel superintendent prior to sending the victim girl back home.

The delegation led by Manju Kawasai and 4 others also claimed that reports pertaining to occurrence of similar incidents in Potakebin in the past are also floating and parents are taking their children back to home. In a letter to the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) the delegation members also highlighted a similar incident of abduction of a girl just two weeks prior to the brutal incident.

Letter submitted by the delegation

Another tribal body operating in the state, the Sarv Adivasi Samaj in a letter to the SP and DM of Sukma demanded the dismissal of the hostel superintendent Heena Khan. The tribal body in its letter has also demanded strict action against the DEO, and other involved officials in the incident. The tribal body has also given a call for a shutdown on Friday July 28, demanding the deputation of people from the tribal community in the government hostels run for tribal students.

BJP suspect gang rape of minor

Meanwhile a Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) delegation led by MLA Ranjana Sahu after interacting with the girls alleged that ‘they got indication that the incident was of a gang rape and the culprits are being protected.’ While slamming the pathetic state of affairs in the Congress government the BJP MLA in a press conference after meeting the students of the hostel quoted ” that after the brutal incident the victim girl was sent back home on the next day, the hostel superintendent tried to bury the matter.”

“Let me tell you that the little girl was having difficulty going to the washroom, but still no one from the government or congress MLAs, ministers have visited the girl, there is no humanity left in the congress”, added the BJP leader who turned emotional during the conference.

Let us tell you that the state opposition BJP has been continuously hitting the streets in the tribal dominated state lately, over various issues like corruption, illegal conversion and I’ll treatment of farmers and tribals. Recently the BJP has also accused the Congress government for an alleged scam of Rs 229 cr under the flagship Gaothan scheme being run for the farmers by the Baghel led government.
