It’s been almost a month since the film, ‘The Kerala Story’ was released. The film sparked controversy for the fact that it showed cases of ‘Love Jihad’ and the grooming of Hindu girls. Love Jihad is a pattern of crime where Muslim men hide their identity to trap Hindu women for conversion, nikah followed by abuse and even murders.

The country is witnessing a significant rise in such cases be it reported or unreported. Today we have brought you a case from Madhya Pradesh’s remote village, Bandakpur which falls under the Damoh district.

This woman who moved to Bengaluru, Karnataka in search of a job met a man identified as Raju. After days of friendship, they entered into a relationship, a physical one and now the woman found that Raju is Umar Farooq son of Zakir Hussain.

Farooq has now shared the videos and photos of the victim woman on social media and is threatening and blackmailing her.

The woman arrived in Damoh and has given a complaint letter of the Superintendent of Police demanding action against the accused. The letter that she gave to the SP has the following points;

The victim woman, the daughter of Moolchand Valmiki is a resident of Bandakpur which falls under the jurisdiction of Bamhori police station and is 19 years old.

She met the accused almost 1.5 years ago at Aditya Birla Finance Retail, Madhura Garments, they both worked there as employees. The accused introduced himself as, Raju, a Hindu and hence followed by the friendship they developed love feelings for each other. Raju used to go to the temple perform Puja and follow Hindu religious customs with the victim woman.

Later on the pretext of marriage and his ‘true love’ Raju made a physical relationship with the victim. He recorded the sexual activities and clicked some pictures of the woman.

Almost six months ago, the woman found that Raju was Umar Farooq and that he used to force the woman to eat meat biriyani almost every day. Upon learning the truth she cut all ties with Farooq, however, he started threatening the victim of dire consequences.

Later Farooq hacked the mobile phone of the woman and started controlling all her online activities. He never allowed the woman to talk to her parents, and if she ever did he used to beat her up. He also did not allow her to visit her home town, she was under his surveillance 24/7.

Farooq asked the woman to convert to Islam and marry him or else he will chop her into pieces and feed it to street dogs. The victim struggled a lot to get out of his captivity and when she did, she gave this complaint letter to the police. The accused also threatened to kill all of the victim’s family.

After the woman returned back to her family Farooq started blackmailing her saying, if she will not return back to him, he will upload their intimate videos on social media platforms, he also uploaded some of her pictures on social media platforms and sent it to her relatives.

Due to constant threats and blackmailing by Farooq, the woman is not able to return to her workplace. He also borrowed around 40,000 rupees from the woman and is not returning it to her now. She wants legal action to be taken against Farooq.

The victim stated that she fears Farooq will kill and chop her into pieces, he has several videos and pictures of her which he is using to blackmail her. The matter is between two different states, the Madhya Pradesh police will file an FIR but as the accused lives in Bengaluru, the case and trial will continue in Bengaluru only.

A First Information Report (number-24/2023) was registered in this case on June 21 at Damoh Mahila Police Station by the victim.

As per the FIR the accused have been booked under IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation), section 67a of the IT Act and 3 / 5 of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act with sections 3(2)(va) of the SC-ST Act.

Additionally, the state Home Minister, Dr Narottam Mishra while interacting with media said, “We have sent a team to arrest the man from Bengaluru and he will be booked under the Madhya Pradesh Anti Conversion Law”

Watch his statement here.

Organiser will update the report as soon as it gets in touch with the victim woman.

This month Organiser visited Damoh district to cover a matter relating to grooming for the mass conversion of minor Hindu students at a school called Ganga Jamna. The girl students were forced to wear Hijab, and offer prayers like Surah-Al-Fatiha and ‘Lab pe aai hai dua..’ with special breaks on Fridays, the school was no less than a madrasa. Interested readers can find the detailed report on the case here.
