It stood as a testament to the resplendent sunrise of India’s glorious past. The great day of the inauguration of India’s most divine temple, the new parliament building has marked it’s arrival.
What does the ‘Sengol’ Signify ?
Immerse yourself in the grandeur of the Chola Empire, a majestic realm that held sway over South India with unparalleled power and influence. Such was the Chola Kingdom’s might that during the 10th and 11th centuries, the Bay of Bengal itself came to be known as the “Chola Lake,” a testament to their dominion.
The Cholas, ardent devotees of Bhagwan Shiva and Bhagwan Vishnu, adorned the land with magnificent temples dedicated to these divine entities. With each passing ruler, a sacred temple would rise, embodying the fervent worship and reverence of these gods.
Among the Chola legacies, the majestic Sengol held a special place, symbolising the seamless transfer of power from one ruler to another. Its golden threads of history extend back to the 8th century, etched onto the temple walls like the Virupaksha Temple, where it found form in the resplendent Nandi Dhwaja, held in the hands of Shiva-Nataraja.
Historians reveal that from the advent of the Mauryan Dynasty in 300 BC to the Gupta Dynasty in 200 AD, and through the Varsha Empire in 600 AD, the magnificent Sengol (In forms having close resemblance to the modern day sengol) played a pivotal role as the primary symbol of power transition across Bharatvarsha, our great land of India.
Thus, the Sengol stands as a proud emblem of India’s glorious past, its significance flowing like an unyielding sea of justice and righteousness, captivating the hearts of those who behold its splendour. Thus, the presence of Sengol right beside the chair of Lok Sabha will keep motivating the makers of law for working towards the betterment of the Indian Society & will act as a symbol of pride for the generations to come. How did the Sengol took its rebirth?
On the momentous day of August 14, 1947, the illustrious Sengol was entrusted to the then Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, symbolizing the transfer of power from the British government. However, over the course of 75 years, this magnificent relic lay forgotten, neglected in the depths of the Allahabad Museum’s walls. It was only during the inauguration of India’s modern temple of democracy that the Sengol’s revival came to pass.
Under the guidance of the Modi government and the esteemed Indira Gandhi National Institute of Arts & Science, extensive research was conducted to uncover the hidden treasures of the Transfer of Power ceremony, unraveling the essence of the Sengol that had been transformed into a mere piece of art.
As the Home Minister of India proudly announced the placement of the Sengol within the new Parliament building, adjacent to the Speaker’s seat, it ignited a spirited debate. Delving into its opulent history and cherished heritage, the majority of people rejoiced, celebrating the restoration of our long-lost traditions.
However, the opposition, from questioning the significance of the Central Vista project to challenging the necessity of a new Parliament building, culminated in their boycott of the inauguration. They failed to recognize this monumental occasion as the liberation of our modern, independent India’s democracy from the vestiges of the British Raj.
Now, with the Sengol adorning the hallowed halls of the new Parliament, it stands as a captivating symbol, beckoning us to reflect upon our glorious past while forging a future of unity and progress.
Path of Cultural Independence:-
“A nation’s culture is its soul. To attain true independence, we must nurture and uphold our cultural values” ~Subhas Chandra Bose
These powerful words hail from the Architect of the Azad Hind Fauz, a visionary who ignited hope within the impoverished and famine-stricken masses of our nation, instilling a belief in their ability to combat British rule. Among the most renowned sayings of our time is the notion that to dismantle a nation, one must first obliterate its history and culture. During the colonial era, it was precisely our historical and cultural knowledge, beliefs, and values that suffered the most, as they were targeted to sow division among the Indian populace.
Now, we find ourselves in the era of ‘Amrit Kaal’ – a period brimming with burgeoning nationalism. Our nation’s developmental efforts are scaling unprecedented heights with each passing day. The leader of our country hailed as the Prime Inter Pares, is commanding massive global respect, and even the so-called superpowers of the world seek our counsel. Thus, the time has come for us to embark on a journey toward cultural independence.
The allure of Western culture no longer captivates us. The demographic dividend of our nation has emerged as maestros in forging their own trajectory, no longer succumbing to the snares of western driven leftist propaganda that aim to undermine our ethnic culture and fundamental beliefs. It is now the moment to shatter the chains of inferiority.
This new India in it making is the remarkable outcome of the tireless toil and unwavering perseverance of 1.4 billion Indians. Our nation’s remarkable growth, propelling it to become the world’s fastest-growing economy, is a testament to independent thought and a steadfast belief in our indigenous practices.
This new India is fostering a vibrant startup culture, with the youth at the helm, propelling us forward. Our engineers lead the charge in developing indigenous weapons, ensuring that our nation secures its rightful place on the world stage. Therefore, to embrace this new generation of growth and development while paving a path unencumbered by obstacles for our country’s journey towards Vishwa Guru, a new Parliament Building was imperative. This edifice stands as a testament to the Make in India initiative, exuding a sense of national pride within the very heart of our democratic temple.
What the future beholds:-
Under the astute leadership of our nation, with a steadfast focus on progress while honouring our rich heritage and timeless culture, our people, particularly the youth, are discovering the remarkable potential of development without forsaking our historical legacy. In a country like India, where over
500 regional languages and countless ethnic groups thrive, the concept of culture assumes paramount significance. It is this very essence that unifies our diverse society, serving as the adhesive that binds us together as one harmonious whole. Thus, by emancipating our temples, history, beliefs, and values from the clutches of colonialism, we pave the way for an enhanced unity within our nation, allowing us to proudly proclaim our unwavering commitment to ‘Unity in Diversity.’
