Seventeen-year-old Ashish Walia is facing one of the biggest questions of our life, and an answer will fix the direction of life. After passing 12th Class with Science (PCM), Ashish dreams of moving towards Engineering. But in today’s educational environment, there are many branches related to Engineering from many universities, offered with different labels.

Wise Selection

Due to this, especially the young generation, like Ashish Walia, has become confused. So, in such a situation, it is necessary that at this time, we choose any one subject and institution very wisely because it will determine the direction of our whole life to come.

Banking on Quantum Computing

At present, we can divide technical education into two forms, software-based education and hardware-based education. First, we talk about software-based education. Looking at the current perspective, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is in highest demand due to the availability of large amounts of digital data after the 5G revolution. AI is the most effective tool. Hence, there is a high market demand for experts in data analysis to analyse this digital data. For this, a student can get a B Tech degree in Data Science (AI and ML) from any national-level institute. But here’s the catch. Due to increasing amount of digital data and complexities of AI algorithms, we do not get the results we want faster with conventional computing. So here, quantum computing has emerged as a solution to this problem, and we should not hesitate to say that quantum computing will be the future of AI and ML-based computing.

Due to increasing amount of digital data and complexities of AI algorithms, we do not get the results we want faster with conventional computing. So here, quantum computing has emerged as a solution to this problem

While introducing its most futuristic project Google Quantum AI, Google has expressed that the importance of quantum computing will increase the most in the coming times. The Government of India has also started National Quantum Project with Rs 8,000 crores.

Scope for Evolution

In addition, securely transferring substantial amounts of digital data is another fundamental requirement. Blockchain technology can do the same work comfortably. However, Blockchain is still in its embryonic stage and has a lot of scope for evolution. With the trend still being discovered by many, one can find less competition in the field regarding job opportunities. Look at the career opportunities, and you can consider if you wish to embrace Blockchain technology when it shows exceptional potential as Blockchain Developer, Blockchain Project Manager, Blockchain UX Designer, Blockchain Quality Engineer, Blockchain Legal Consultant and Blockchain Solutions Architect. Therefore, there is no exaggeration to say that quantum computing and Blockchain technology will become one of the most sought-after experts.

Any advanced software can only be successfully implemented if you have the same hardware level. India will soon become a global manufacturing hub, mainly due to the Make in India project, China plus one policy, and increasing requirements for automation for smart city projects, 5G-based IOT and robotics drone technology. Hence as per the Bureau of Labour Statistics, hardware-related jobs will continue to grow at a pace of seven per cent per year, approximately like any other industry in India. So students passionate about advanced hardware can choose any of the hardware-based streams for a B Tech degree, like Telecommunication and Automation, Control Systems and Robotics, Image Processing, Computer Vision, Remote Sensing, IT and Power Electronics.

At last, it advised students like Ashish Walia to identify the subject and stream of their interest (software or hardware) accordingly. As the next step, choose the right degree from the appropriate institute to make a golden future. But before taking admission to any institution, it is vital to check some main points such as the accreditation, affiliation and ranking of the institution. Because engineering colleges in India are accredited by NAAC, NBA, or AICTE and ranked by NIRF as well as the industry synchronised curriculum, campus placement, intuitional infrastructure, strength, and quality of the faculty members should also be checked. In the end, we would like to say that the new generation, like Ashish Walia should, after identifying their interest, engage with full vigour to acquire this technical knowledge. This is necessary because society is waiting for this energetic and talented youth power for the golden future of a new emerging “Prakhar Bharat”.
