A 24-year-old woman from the United States is making quite a buzz share shared information about her master’s degree on Twitter. Hamdia Ahmed was born at a refugee camp and from there her parents raised her to be this successful in life.
Hamdia Ahmed, who holds a master’s degree in public policy, has captured the attention and admiration of netizens with her remarkable journey. She shared her inspiring story, revealing that she lived in a refugee camp for seven years.
With the journey of her life full of struggles, she strives towards “changing the world and becoming an advocate for marginalized individuals.”
Last week Hamdia shared pictures from her convocation from her official Twitter account. Sharing the pictures she wore, “24 years ago, my mother gave birth to me while escaping from a civil war. I lived in a refugee camp for the first seven years of my life. My parents came to the USA with zero dollars. They have sacrificed so much for my siblings and me. Today, I graduated with my master’s degree.”
She added further, “Guys, it was everyday people who helped me pay for my school tuition. I would have never made it without those who invested in my education. I worked hard and hopefully made you all proud.”
In the subsequent Tweets, she added, “Many people around the world invested in my education. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your support.
I plan on attending law school. Kind words are the best gift. I also have a fundraiser for my tuition.”
“Everything that I do is to make my parents proud. My dad worked as a delivery man using a wheelbarrow. This is how he was able to feed us when we lived in the camp. My mom has faced so many challenges throughout her life, but she is so resilient,” she added.
Hamdia added, “My family went through so much even when we moved to the US. I use to stay up most nights translating for my parents at the hospital because one of my siblings was sick. I would sleep in the hospital waiting room and go to school the next day with a few hours of sleep.”
“I also witnessed so many traumatic things living in a refugee camp and moving here to the US (another story which I will share some other time.) I wanted to give up so many times on everything, but I had to keep pushing myself. I thank God for everything,” she wrote.
Hamdia has more than 29 thousand followers on Twitter. Netizens applauded her for her achievements. One individual wrote, “The photo of you and your mother is so beautiful. Congratulations on your outstanding achievement, and best of luck to you in law school!”
