Bihar: After Ajay Alok, another JD(U) leader RCP Singh joins BJP; said Nitish is and will always be PM (Palti Maar)

In a big political setback for Nitish Kumar, a seasoned politician and former national president of Janata Dal-United (JDU), Ram Chandra Prasad (RCP) Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi on May 11.

Singh has taken membership of BJP in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Rajya Sabha MP & Anil Baluni. While thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Party President JP Nadda, RCP Singh lashed out at Nitish Kumar and said that the people of Bihar had given him the mandate to develop the State; however, he is busy touring states one by another.

The former Union Minister further stated that ‘Nitish Babu has a special affinity with the letter ‘C’, when you meet him he will say he is against Crime and Corruption but he has an undying thirst for Chair.’

“A lot of effort was put on when we formed the Government in 2005, but look at how all our hard work has gone in vain; the current State of law and order in the State is even worse than in 2005, you tell me how come it will not happen in a state whose Chief Minister has been in three different states in last three days; the people of Bihar gave him a mandate to develop the State, to provide job opportunities to the aspirant youths of the State but look what he is doing, he says that he is uniting the opposition but why doesn’t he disclose who is going to lead the alliance, added Singh.

Further, while taunting Kumar, Singh asserted that a few people often hail him as PM; I had made it clear then that Nitish Babu was PM, He is still PM, and He will always be, i.e. ‘Palti Maar’, how many times will you be backstabbing ? Once I was the national president of the party, I have taken the party work to every nook and corner of the State; mark my words, nothing will be left for Nitish Kumar in Bihar’, concluded the former JDU stalwart.

It is to be noted that Singh was forced to resign from the central cabinet after he was denied a Rajya Sabha seat from the JDU quota last year, following which a tussle of words has been going on between him and Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he is considered to be a popular leader of the OBC category. He has a significant hold on the de facto Luv-Kush equation.

RCP Singh is one of many leaders who have part away from JD(U). Others, including former party spokesman and senior leader Ajay Alok, have too left the party and joined the BJP in the run-up to the Lok Sabha election that is scheduled to take place in 2024. Earlier Upendra Kushwaha has too resigned from the JD(U) and announced a new party in February 2023.
