Changing names and posing as Hindus have been Muslims’ favourite work, whether it is the reel or real life. There have been instances where Muslim men pose as Hindus to trap Hindu women, commonly called ‘Love Jihad’. Then they pose as Hindus to rent places and houses. Now they have started posing as Hindus to run their businesses as well.
One such incident has come to light from Khatauli which falls on the Delhi-Haridwar national highway. Here a group of people confronted the Dhaba owner after, they found he was a Muslim and the name of the Dhaba was “Shiva Punjabi Dhaba”.
The Hindu families were angry with the owner as he concealed his identity to win their trust.
This has become a common practice now, there are a number of instances where Muslims have posed as Hindus to run their business. Since the advent of online payment modes, their identities are now revealed.
In the said video a woman from a group of Hindus said, “On scanning the QR code a Muslim name is shown. When the name of the shop is Shiva then why is there a Muslim name for the payments? The problem is you have kept a Hindu name for the shop but you are Muslim, this is not right, why are you defaming Hindus?” asked the woman.
“Why are you keeping the name of a Hindu deity in the shop if you are a Muslim? This is not right and you should change the name of the shop” said the man behind the camera.
In Khatauli, between Delhi & Haridwar there is this Dhaba called "Shiv Punjabi Tourist Dhaba", turns out it is owned by Muslims.
These families confronted the owner after they scanned the QR code for payment & the true identity was revealed.

Notably a picture allegedly from Gujarat is being circulated on the internet which says, eatery and other shop owners have stopped accepting online payments. Some of the users said, this is not because they have a problem with online money, it is because they are no more anonymous to the customer and their names are displayed on applications like Phone Pe, GooglePe, BharatPe, Patym and others.

Another video showed up on the internet where a henna artist with the name Amir had a shop and even visiting card with the name Raj Mehendi store. The woman after learning about his identity confronted him and said, “There are many Hindus who wish to go to Hindu henna artists only, there are a number of Hindu artists nearby and that is why you kept a Hindu name and fool them. Hindus are coming to your shop assuming you are a Hindu. This is fraud and I will file a complaint against you”

In 2021, a shop with the name ‘Sai Juce Centre’ was shut down after Hindus found that the owner was a Muslim, Shabbu Khan. The incident was reported from Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. After the protestors demanded the shop to be shut down a police complaint was registered against a Bajrang Dal activist named Navneet Sharma.
In August 2021, Hindus protested against a dosa vendor stall after they found its name was ‘Srinath Dosa’. The protesters assembled at the Vikas Bazar in Mathura and raised slogans like, “Krishna bhakton ab yudh karo, Mathura ko bhi shudh karo”. Notably, after the protests the shopkeeper changed his name from Srinath, a name to Bhagwan Krishra to American Dosa Centre.
These are some of the cases which are available in the public domain or were reported at some point by activists and social policing groups. However, there are endless stores that are being run in Hindu names for years and years.
The only possible case that can be registered against one for hiding his or her true identity can be of fraud under section 420 of the IPC. There is no other way to call for punishments against these groups or Islamists who consider this their very right to pick Hindu names for triking Hindus.
