Chattisgarh: Maoist claimed the recent Dantewada attack was done to avenge the airstrikes

Samta, the Maoist spokesperson, took responsibility for the gruesome killings and justified their actions by saying that this was an act of revenge against the airstrikes conducted by the forces on January 11, 2023.

The South Sub-Zonal Committee of the People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA), the armed wing of the proscribed Communist Party of India (Maoist) while taking responsibility for the Aranpur attack, has said that the attack was revenge for the aerial strikes allegedly conducted by the Security forces.

In a press release issued on Friday, April 28, the Maoist spokesperson Samta while taking responsibility for the deadly explosion, said that “aerial strikes were conducted against our organization, one of our comrade, Ungi, too died in the air strikes carried out by the government forces on January 11.”

In addition to that, police had also opened fire against villagers of Gonderas on April 12; they were chased and beaten up by the police; the attack was carried out to convey a message to the government to stop these attacks, read the statement further”.

It is to be noted that this is not the first time that the Maoist have alleged the security forces for conducting airstrikes into their strongholds; earlier in January this year too, the Ultras in back-to-back press issues claimed about the airstrikes, Maoist had also claimed about such airstrikes in 2022 as well; however, security forces have time and again categorically denied about any such strikes carried out on Maoists.

(Maoist commander – Jagdish)

Meanwhile, Bastar police have reportedly launched a manhunt to nab the Maoist commander, Jagdish,
the suspected mastermind of the Aranpur attack, police have also announced a cash reward on the Ultras involved in the attack; it’s been learnt that Jagdish, a seasoned commander of the Darbha Division Committee of the Outlawed CPI Maoist hatched and executed the deadly attack on the forces on Wednesday, April 26.
It’s been speculated that Jagdish was accompanied by his wife Hemala, who was second in the command in the operation that killed 10 personnel of DRG along with a civilian driver on Aranpur-Sameli road on Wednesday, Jagdish is considered to be an expert and technically sound in planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

It is to be noted that the outlawed Maoist outfit has suffered a heavy dent to their organizational structures in states like Bihar and Jharkhand, where the security forces have recently declared Maoist bastions like Budha Pahad free from the Left Wing Extremism, while the battle against the LWE terror is said to be in decisive phase in regions like Bastar of Chhattisgarh which is considered as the strongest bastion of the proscribed organization.
