To mark the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme “Mann Ki Baat”, an exhibition by well-known artists will be organised on April 30, 2023.
The people, themes from Mann Ki Baat, and iconic heritage sites of India, such as Red Fort and Konark Sun Temple, will be featured in Amar Chitra Katha (a series of Indian Comic Books).
The radio programme is held on every last Sunday of the month, and the first series of twelve Amar Chitra Katha comic books will be released on April 30, 2023. Amar Chitra Katha comics have most of their books related to biographies and folktales based on religious legends, epics and historical figures. The Mann Ki Baat Series will feature people mentioned by the Prime minister in his programme, those who have made a difference in society in everyday life.
According to the Secretary, the Union Ministry of Culture, Govind Mohan, “Free copies of the comic books will be distributed in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Central Board Schools. The publishers are free to sell the books in open market.” He added that the government had bought the books from publishers at a price which is 40-60 per cent of the market rate.
Mann ki Baat will also be the theme for projection mapping shows in 13 iconic historical and cultural sites across the country, including Red Fort, Chittor Fort, Golkonda Fort, Konark Sun Temple, Ramgarh Fort of Assam, Vellore Fort in Tamil Nadu and PM Museum in New Delhi.
The shows will commence on April 29, 2023, and continue for one month. The projection mapping of these monuments will capture their historical and architectural importance, the diversity of India, and the region’s distinctiveness, similar to the plethora of topics addressed by the PM in Mann Ki Baat.
The Ministry of Culture has also curated an exhibition of paintings on Mann ki Baat themes tilted as Jan Shakti. The exhibition will showcase the works of well-known artists like Vibha Galhotra, Madhavi Parekh, Atul Dodiya, Riyas Komu, G.R Iranna, Ashim Purkayastha, Manu Parekh, Thukral and Tagra, Paresh Maiti, Pratul Das, Jagannath Panda and Manjunath Kamath.
Anjali Ella Menon, a noted painter, will inaugurate the exhibition on April 30, 2023, at the National Gallery of Modern Art. The twelve themes include women’s empowerment, water conservation, Corona pandemic awareness, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and environment and climate change.
