Ardent efforts of Hindu organisations, including Sangh-inspired Hindu Aikya Vedi (HAV), have turned fruitful. The issue came up when the CPM-dominated governing committee of the legendary Thirumadhamkunnu Bhadrakali temple, in Muslim majority Malappuram District, painted the temple complex in green colour.
After painting, the look of the temple turned to be that of a masjid. HAV and other temple organisations submitted a memorandum before the temple committee asking to change the colour. The leaders told them that if the committee does not do it, they (HAV) would take action to do it. At last, the temple committee came on their knees. They started to change the colour.
The painting was carried out in view of the temple festival, aka pooram, from March 28 to April 7. Thirumandhamkunnu is one of the three most significant and famous Bhadrakali temples in Kerala.
The list of the temple committee itself is thought-provoking. Chief Patron is M P Abdul Samad Samadani MP, leader of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). IUML leader Manjulamkuzhi Ali MLA is the Chairman. Zilla Panchayat President Rafeeqa, Zilla Panchayat Member Shaharban and Grama Panchayat President Saeeda are in the committee. This is more than adequate to evidence the unholy nexus between CPM and Muslim leadership.
HAV president Sasikala Teacher criticised the temple committee’s anti-Hindu stand in sharp terms.
