On February 12, 2023, at a civic reception in Lok Bhavan at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu stated that “traditions and sentiments emanating from Kashi, Ayodhya, Sanchi and Mathura bind all Indians under a single thread.”

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel were also present during the occasion.

Additionally, she said that “Naimisharanya, Gorakhpur, Maghar and other sacred places have witnessed India’s flourishing spiritual power.” She stated that “the spiritual energy from these places would continue to provide strength to our country for ages.”

She further added that this is her “first visit to the city” and the warm welcome given to her has made the trip “unforgettable.”

The President also highlighted the important role and significance of the state of Uttar Pradesh. She added that “The UNESCO has recognised that Kumbh in Prayagraj as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”

The second example given by her was the city of Lucknow itself. She said that “the city on the banks of the Gomati River is associated with the oldest traditions and is a major centre for culture, literature, art, skills and politics.”

The President highlighted that “Uttar Pradesh is one state which has unique record in the field of women empowerment.” She said that “The State Government is determined to achieve big goals.”

Additionally, she said that “Along with the development of the economy, it is also necessary for economic and social progress to be just and inclusive.” She added that it is “the national priority to bring all the deprived sections of the society and women within ambit of inclusive development.”

She said that “the state has the largest number of skilled workforce and youth population are being provided to utilise their talents in the State.”

Earlier in the day, she addressed the valedictory session of the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit here.
At the summit, she added that “Uttar Pradesh is capable and ready to become India’s growth engine. Through that summit, the state got investment proposals worth Rs 35.5 lakh crore.”
