Three personnel of CRPF have been gravely injured in an IED blast triggered by the Communist terrorists in insurgency-hit Chaibasa of Jharkhand on February 2.

The explosion took place in the morning hours of February 2 when the personnel of the 60th battalion of CRPF were out on a combing operation near the Sarjamburu forest area under Tonto police station limits of Chaibasa, the injured personnel have been identified as Rakesh Pathak, BD Anal and Pankaj Yadav all belonging to the 60th battalion of the CRPF.

The injured personnel have been airlifted to Ranchi, where they are treated in the Medico hospital. Search operations have been intensified in the vicinity, and additional forces have been dispatched to the site of the incident, said an official familiar with the development.

It should be noted that this is the second IED blast reported within a week, as another security personnel had gotten injured in the explosion near Anjanbeda village under Musafir police station limits of Chaibasa on January 25.

Three active cadres of PLFI held in Bandgaon

In another Maoist-related development in the district, Security forces managed to arrest three active cadres of the outlawed People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the proscribed CPI Maoist, on February 1.

The nabbed Maoists have been identified as Lauki Sandipurti, Birsa and Sukhram Sandipurti, all residents of Bandgaon of Chaibasa in Jharkhand.

As many as 7 cases are pending against Lauki. In comparison, 4 cases have been registered against Birsa in different police stations of West Singhbhum, and the third accused, Sukhram, was hunted in three cases.

It’s been reported that the Chaibasa police had some intel about the presence of armed cadres of PLFI in the Bandgaon region, after which SP Aashutosh Sekhar dispatched a team to Bandgaon.

It’s been learnt that the team set up a temporary checkpoint near the Kita village under Bandgaon police station limits from where the accused have been arrested.

It’s been reported that as many as five Maoist on two motorcycles were on their way to leave Bandgaon when the personnel stopped them near Kita. However, one drove the motorcycle away and fled while three Maoists on the other motorcycle were held.

During the initial investigation, they all confessed to being a part of the proscribed PLFI; one AK-47 rifle, one country-made pistol, and 33 cartridges along with Maoist pamphlets have been recovered from the possession of the accused’s, said SP Chaibasa, Ashutosh Sekhar.

It should be noted that last week, Tilkeshwar Gope, a dreaded sub-zonal commander and close aide of PLFI supremo Dineshwar Gope had also been nabbed from the outskirts of Ranchi.
