Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel laid the cornerstone for the 28-story twin administrative buildings of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on January 28. These buildings will be the first in the nation to have municipal house offices, State Government offices, and Central Government offices under one roof. “PM Narendra Modi has made government offices and their services more accessible and user-friendly for the general public.

We are benefiting from it… The Chief Minister stated that the SMC’s new administrative buildings would be constructed expeditiously” following the inauguration. Surat Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal noted that the new twin towers will be the tallest government administrative buildings in the country and can house around 4,000 people at once.

According to officials, the twin 106-metre-tall skyscrapers have a total size of 2.20 million square metres (23.60 million square feet), who estimate that the construction will cost Rs 1,344 billion.

The tower’s A wing will be 47,895 square metres, while the B wing, which will contain state and central government offices, will be 43,666 square metres.

In Surat, Patel also laid foundation stones for and inaugurated 23 distinct development projects totalling Rs 2,416 crore.

Former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel’s name was given to a new library erected at the cost of Rs 12.27 crore and inaugurated by the Chief Minister in Varachha.

CM Patel remarked, “We have inaugurated and laid the foundation for nearly 3000 EWS houses today. We have now reached our goal of constructing 10 lakh residences under the PM Awas Scheme, of which 7 lakh have been handed over to people.” He added, “The Surat Municipal Corporation is making outstanding efforts to build the city.

Today, we met with SMC officials and elected wing leaders to discuss various development projects, including ecotourism development at Dumas Beach, the Tapi River cleaning project, a conventional bridge on the Tapi River, an iconic administrative building, a flood protection wall, and Shahid Smarak.” Also present at the ceremony were Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh, State BJP president CR Paatil, State Finance Minister Kanu Desai, and State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
