Chhattisgarh: One converted Christian family reverted to Sanatan after Mission cemetery refuses to give space for burial

Amid the simmering tensen in the tribal heartland of Chhattisgarh, a family that had been converted to Christianity some 22 years ago have embraced the Sanatan Dharma back in Kilepal of Bastar on January 6.

As per the information received, one Baghel family of Biti Para in kilepal, 60 km from Jagadalapur have brought back up in the Sanatan fold after the town crimoterium refuses to provide them space for burial of one of their family member.

It’s been learnt that at first the family asked the villagers to provide some space for the burial to which the villagers denied, asserting that there is no official crimoterium in the village and the family had left the Hindu rituals after converting to Christianity.

This led to some minor altercation between the family and the villagers after which additional forces were deployed in the village to prevent any sort of confrontation in view of the ongoing tension over conversion in the region.

The family then approached the town crimoterium for a space to which the Christian crimetorium denied citing lack of space, following which the family reapproched the villagers for an amicable solution.

The villager’s then asked the family to reconvert to Hindu fold so that the deceased member can be cremated at the Hindu crimetorium in the village, following which the family have been converted back to the Sanatan fold.

It’s been learnt that the villagers then cremated the deceased member of the Baghel family with full honour as per the Hindu rituals. Infact, this is not the first time that the converted Christian’s have got in an altercation with the local Vanvasi Hindu community over the burial space for their deceased ones.

As per the villagers these cases are growing in numbers owing the escalating numbers of converts in the region, however the irony is that even after embracing Christianity these convert christians are not provided spaces by the mission-owned Christian crimetorium.

Similarly, the other conducts of the converted christians are also causing trouble in the region as they are reportedly instigated by the pastors to pass disrespectful comments on the local deities of the Hindu Vanvasi community, many a times these provocative comments had led to violent clashes in the region including the recent one in Gorra village of Narayanpur.

In addition to that, the other misdeeds of the missionaries are also augmenting briskly in the region as they are not only openly promoting illegal conversions but they are also encouraging the converts to lure the other villagers into Christianity.

As per the locals, at first the missionaries lured the local Hindu vanvasis by offering them any sort of help that they are in need of this includes financial aids, treatment, education and many more, then they cunningly convert them.

Once converted these men are instigated by the Church to make mockery out of the Hindu Vanvasi rituals and lure the other villagers into Christianity.

Ironically, under pressure from the mission backed poltical apparatus, the local administration has gone completely blind towards these acts of provocation resulting in more frequent altercation between the local Hindu community and the converts.
