New Delhi : Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has urged the residents to keep their documents updated in the Aadhaar issued ten years back.

An official source said residents could update their Aadhaars by uploading supportive documents online through the myAadhaar portal or offline by visiting the nearest Aadhaar centre.

The Aadhaar number has emerged as a universally accepted proof of identity of residents in India.

More than 1100 government schemes and programmes, including 319 run by the Central Government, may be pointed out that use Aadhaar-based identification to deliver services.

In a statement, the Ministry of Electronics and IT said that it is in the interest of the residents to keep their Aadhaars updated with current proof of identity and address.

Updating the documents in Aadhaar updated helps ease living, better service delivery, and enables accurate authentication, it has been stated.

A 12-digit number provided by the UIDAI is the Aadhaar Card.

Various details, such as iris scans, fingerprints, and photographs, are linked to the Aadhaar Card.

The Aadhaar Card can be used as proof of identity and address.

To file Income Tax Returns, the Aadhaar and PAN must be linked.
