Kerala : Dharmaraksha Puraskaram, instituted by UAE Ayyappa Seva Samiti, has been awarded to Kolakkod Chandrasekharan, popularly known as Chandrettan, former Kannur Vibhag Sanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Puraskaram was presented to Chandrasekharan by J. Nandakumar, National Coordinator of Prajna Pravah. Chandrasekharan is a reputed spiritual-social-cultural leader in North Malabar.

Speaking on occasion, J. Nandakumar said that Chandrasekharan is a Mahathapasvi and a role model for social workers. Sangh workers do not crave fame. Every worker should study the eight decades-long life of Chandrasekharan. He took crucial roles in building the Sangh organisation in the Kannur district. He weathered all obstacles that came in the way of the idealistic life.

Chandrasekharan took active roles in all sorts of Hindutwa activities in North Malabar. He was even involved in the Sangh work of the hilly Wynad district. He shouldered essential responsibilities in Vivekananda Medical Mission Hospital, established to assist the tribal community.
