Dr Krishnamurthy, a renowned dentist in Badiyadka in the Kasaragod district of Kerala who had reported missing a few days ago, has been found dead in mysterious circumstances. Dr Krishnamurthy has been running a dental clinic in the town for several years and is known for his service to patients. As per local sources, Dr Krishnamurthy had received threats from the leaders of the Muslim League and other Jihadis purportedly to support another dental hospital of their community that recently started in the town. The doctor had received extortion threats and was also asked by the criminals to close his clinic or face dire consequences.

A few days ago, Dr Krishnamurthy went missing, after which the family members filed a missing complaint. The assistants at his clinic filed a complaint against the men who threatened them. However, the search for the doctor was not successful. The town was tense since he went missing. On Thursday, his dead body was found on nearby railway tracks. The police registered an unnatural death case, while Hindu organizations blamed the Muslim League and other Jihadis for his murder.

After the initial investigation, the police arrested areca nut trader and Muslim League Kumbdaje Panchayat Secretary Ali Thuppakallu, Muslim League Badiyadka Panchayat office bearer Muhammad Hanif Yane Anwar, Kumbdaje resident Ashraf, Annadka resident Muhammad Shiabuddin and Vidyagiri Muniyuru resident Umarul Farooq. The investigation revealed that a group of Jihadis led by Ali and Anwar threatened to kill Dr Krishnamurthy in the clinic. After this, the doctor went missing. On Friday, VHP and Bajrang Dal organized a protest against the murder of Dr Krishnamurthy and demanded the arrest of Jihadis and Muslim League leaders and prompt legal action. BJP leader Kuntaru Ravish Tantri and other Hindu leaders led the protest. Vishwa Hindu Parishad called for a hartal in Badiyadka on Friday.
