A major crack within the “protest gang”, of Mumbai has emerged. The gang that has been protesting against several developmental projects is now seeing many of its members turning against each other.
According to sources and leaders within this gang, not all is well and the reason being that some of them are willing to blindly support Shiv Sena (Uddhav) camp.
A group of leaders within that setup are upset with attitude, as they think, by supporting every point of view or decision of Shiv Sena (Uddhav) they are diluting the agenda.
For example a few days ago, talks related to COVID management during the MVA rule turned ugly, while a senior journalist was trying to defend Uddhav Thackeray and his COVID management, the other side disagreed and claimed that their was hardly any support from the then state government and hence many civil society groups had to come on streets to even feed the poor. In some instances these groups even helped patients get a bed.
These divergent conversations didn’t end well, except that it brought to the fore their differences.
Many from the “protest gang” do not want others from their own group to take on the Shiv Sena over issues related to potholes, bad maintenance of the roads, because this will end up attacking the BMC, where the Shiv Sena has been in power for two decades. While for majority part of it the BJP was in an alliance with the Shiv Sena but for the last five years it’s been a Sena mayor in BMC.
So why is the friction? The gang comprises of many who claim to be apolitical while there are several from different political ideologies. Almost all of them are anti-BJP, a few of them with BMC elections coming close by do not want to be seen siding with the Shiv Sena either. Many who are from a Delhi based political party have started speaking their mind and this is sort of disturbing those who want to side with the Shiv Sena (Uddhav) camp.
