Steel Cutting of 6th and 7th ships (BY 528 and BY 529) of Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Craft (ASW SWC) project under construction by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) was undertaken on August 30, 2022. The steel cutting event and commencement of fabrication of any warship signifies an important milestone, as this occasion is a culmination of preparatory process and kick starts the construction phase of the ships.

RAKSHA MANTRI VISITS PREMIER RADAR STATION OF IAF

On August 29, 2022, Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh visited a premier radar station of the IAF, where he witnessed the functioning of the Integrated Air Command and Control System. The system is the backbone of IAF’s march towards network centricity and is a key enabler in operations. The system’s capabilities endow its users with an enhanced situational awareness that reduces IAF’s sensor-to-shooter loop.

INDO-US SPECIAL FORCES JOINT EXERCISE CULMINATES

The 13th edition of India-USA Joint Special Forces Exercise VAJRA PRAHAR 2022 culminated at Bakloh in Himachal Pradesh on August 28, 2022. The 21-day joint training provided an opportunity for the Special Forces from both nations to train in Air Borne Operations, Special Operations and Counter Terrorism operations in a joint environment under United Nations Charter. The exercise was conducted in two phases; the first phase involved combat conditioning and tactical level special missions training exercises and the second phase included validation of training received by both contingents in the first phase.

INS SUMEDHA VISITS PORT KLANG

As part of the Indian Navy’s long-range operational deployment, INS Sumedha deployed to South East Asia, visited Port Klang, Malaysia on August 27, 2022. INS Sumedha’s visit to Port Klang is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing maritime cooperation and interoperability between Indian Navy and Royal Malaysian Navy.

IAF TO RAISE FIRST LIGHT COMBAT HELICOPTER SQUADRON IN OCTOBER

IAF is set to formally raise its first unit of indigenous Light Combat Helicopters (LCHs) in October coinciding with Air Force Day on October 8. Ten LCHs will be inducted in the first batch completing one unit. The IAF is still working out the total number of LCHs to be acquired. The Army had already raised its first LCH squadron on June 1, 2022 in Bangalore. n
