A day after his anti-national FB post on “Azad Kashmir” and “India Occupied Kashmir”, Dr. K.T. Jaleel, former CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) minister and incumbent MLA (and former SIMI leader),  has come back with a lame excuse that he had put the contentious terminologies ‘Azad Kashmir’ and ‘Indian Occupied Kashmir’ in double inverted commas ! Man “only sympathised” with those who failed to understand the meaning of the words in double  inverted commas ! But there was none around to buy his utter nonsense.  Even CPM senior leader and  minister M.V. Govindan said,  Jaleel’s post was not CPM’s view.

After few hours he returns with another FB post stating that he withdraws the ‘controversial’ post. The reason is simple. He says, his words were misinterpreted ! So, he withdraws his post for the sake of the country’s good and for boosting the social harmony and unity among different communities. Another funny thing is, he signs off the post with ‘Jai Hind’.

One may think that prima facie his ‘withdrawal’ sounds reasonable. But, the actual fact is something else. It looks like a planned move of Chief Minister and CPM supremo Pinarayi Vijayan in view of the mounting demand for legal actions against Jaleel. Now, in the wake of the withdrawal of the post, Vijayan can escape from the  dilemma between his Man Friday Jaleel and the legal propriety. And, Jaleel can walk home scot free.

But, Pinarayi-Jaleel plan will not be that easy. State Governor Arif Mohammed has denounced Jaleel’s Fb post in angry words. He said it is most unfortunate hence unacceptable. Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V. Muraleedharan told in Kerala that withdrawal of the post will not exonerate Jaleel. His senior minister Prahlad Joshi said that ‘those who talk like these are traitors’. BJP president K. Surendran stated that Jaleel can go to Pakistan. People of Kerala wonder why legal action against à pro-Pak statement is delayed.
