On the 8th of August 2022, four Christian missionaries were arrested in Dahanu (Palghar District) for forcibly converting a “vanvasi woman” into the folds of Christianity. She was alone in her house when the missionaries barged in. As always, they gave lucrative offers to her that included monetary support. They were trying to convince her that all her problems will be solved if she becomes a Christian. When she refused, they began threatening her.
However, the villagers came to her rescue and reported this to the police. The police had arrested all four accused for forcible conversion. The missionaries were: Clement D Bella, Mariyama Phillip, Pinky Sharma Kaur aka Paramjit and Parshuram Dhingra. The police booked them under several violations of Indian Penal Code (IPC) which included wanton provocation, defiling the place of worship and house trespasses etc.
The area around Palghar is home to a large section of Vanvasi (tribal) people. There have been numerous instances where many villagers were targeted by the Christian Missionaries. According to some sources, apart from forceful conversions, the missionaries also spread hatred for the Hindu Religion, Culture, and worship methods. It is said that an alliance/coalition of Left Wing-Naxalites and Missionaries work hand in hand for spreading their nefarious ideologies. TheVanvasi Kalyan Ashram also believes that this very alliance is responsible for the 2020 Palghar Mob Lynching that involved the brutal death of two sadhus and a driver.
On the 30th of April 2019, there was a clash between the Christian preachers and angry locals in areas around Palghar regarding disrespect of Hindu Deities. The local population complained that these missionaries were insulting Hindu Gods; calling Lord Hanuman a monkey and Lord Ganesha an elephant. They stated that “how can such false gods protect you”. A few days prior to this incident in 2019, a Christian-ruled school forcibly began to forcibly convert students to Christianity.
The list is not over yet, A man called Mohan Lazarus in the state of Tamil Nadu has been reported to have called Hindu temples such as “Strongholds of Satan”.The state of Goa, in particular, was at the receiving end of the Catholic Christian Policy. The famous Goa Inquisition started by the Portuguese Saint Xavier reveals a horrifying testimony faced by Hindus, Muslims, Jews and even Protestants.
The local language Konkani was suppressed and people had to speak the Portuguese language. Those who refused were burnt at the stake and imprisoned where they had to bear inhuman torture meted out to them by the Jesuits. Temples were vandalised and churches were built in the place. The people had to flee to areas under the rule of Marathas to avoid persecution. In India’s North Eastern states, “Christian Terrorism” has been prevalent. The people from the Hmar Tribe in the northeast had to also place blood-stained crosses into the famous Kamakhya Temple in Assam.
A few examples of Christian terror groups include the National Liberation Front of Tripura which claimed responsibility for the Singicherra Bazaar massacre. The National Democratic Front of Bodoland is a Baptist-backed organisation especially active in Assam. On the 24th of September 2018, four members of a Christian terrorist Group called Greater Cooch Behar Liberation Organisation were arrested by the Police in the Siliguri/ Darjeeling district.
The missionaries have achieved considerable success in converting the majority of the North Eastern people along with tribals and subaltern classes in Jharkhand, Orissa and Bihar. The original Hindu/Vedic culture of India was under threat from rogue Islamic entities and now faces a new front posed by Christian Missionary Activities. Although the Indian Government has launched a “Ghar Wapsi” campaign for reconverting those Hindus who were forcefully converted to Islam and Christianity, there is an immediate need to detect and destroy the nexus between Missionaries and Naxalite groups. In addition, there is a requirement for supervision of activities of the leftist parties namely, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and CPI and organisations, active in India.
