New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Central University of Gujarat’s (CUG) permanent campus in Kundhela village, Vadodara on Saturday, July 18.

He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for water developmental projects.

“Modiji has assured a holistic development of the education sector in Gujarat. The new campus of the Central University of Gujarat will not only impart quality education to the youth but also generate abundant opportunities at the national as well as international level,” Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendra Patel said.

Spread over 100-acre land, this campus of CUG will be built at the cost of Rs 743 crore and will accommodate 2,500 students.

“The new campus is completely residential, has a green landscape and is equipped with all the modern amenities. Nearly 2,500 students can study at the same time in this campus. The first phase of this project will be completed by December 2023,” said Dr Rama Shanker Dubey, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Gujarat.

It is noteworthy that this will be PM Modi’s fourth visit to his home state in the past two months.

During his visit, the PM will also dedicate several water distribution projects which include the dedication of projects worth Rs 395.51 crore while he will virtually lay foundation stones for others
worth an estimated Rs 264.75 crore.

These projects also include construction of six Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) at Kheda, Mehmedabad, Kanjari, Borsad, Umreth and Karjan which will benefit two lakh people., sources said.

Gujarat dominates the industrial landscape

Several states have been lately competing as far as attracting investments, and retaining the investors
is concerned. Gujarat has left other states far behind in this race, says the Annual Survey of Industries
(ASI) released by the Central Government.

AGujarat’s share of fixed capital assets which comprises tangible and durable fixed
assets has increased from 14.96 per cent in 2012-13 to 20.59 per cent in 2019-20.

Meanwhile, the fixed capital share of other top industrial states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and
Karnataka, has sharply dropped in the same period.

The data states that due to Gujarat’s effective Industrial Policy in action, the state has more machinery,
plant, equipment, and other factory assets than any other Indian state and this gap is widening., one report said.
