The Passing out Parade of the cadets of the 142nd course of NDA took place on May 30, 2022. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari reviewed the parade. In his address, the CAS complimented the cadets for their immaculate turnout, precise drill movements and high standard of parade. During his address, CAS spoke about the role of ‘new technology’ & ‘evolving doctrines’ in bringing about fundamental changes in the character of warfare.

INS GOMATI DECOMMISSIONED AFTER 34 YEARS OF SERVICE

Having served the nation and the Indian Navy with great distinction for 34 eventful years, INS Gomati was decommissioned on May 28, 2022, in an elegant, solemn and poignant ceremony. The third ship of the Godavari class guided-missile frigates, INS Gomati was also the oldest warrior of the Western Fleet when decommissioned. During the service, she participated in Operations Cactus, Parakram and Rainbow, and several bilateral and multinational naval exercises. After her decommissioning, the ship’s legacy will be kept alive in an open-air museum being set up on the picturesque banks of river Gomti in Lucknow.

RAKSHA MANTRI UNDERTAKES SEA SORTIE ON SUBMARINE

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, on May 27, 2022, conducted a sea sortie on one of the most potent platforms of Indian Navy ‘INS Khanderi’ during his visit to Karwar Naval Base in Karnataka. The Raksha Mantri was given a first-hand insight into the combat capabilities and offensive strength of the state-of-the-art Kalvari class submarine. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar and other senior officials of Indian Navy and MoD were also present.
The Raksha Mantri described ‘INS Khanderi’ as a shining example of the ‘Make in India’ capabilities of the country. He appreciated the fact that 39 of the 41 ships/submarines ordered by the Indian Navy are being built in Indian shipyards. The operational sortie was accompanied by deployment of ships of the Western Fleet, an anti-submarine mission sortie by a P-8I MPA and Sea King helicopter, a fly past by MiG 29-K fighters and a search & rescue capability demonstration.
