Two temples vandalised by miscreants in Guwahati, Shiva, Ganesha idols and Shivalinga uprooted and thrown out of Mandir

Lord Shiva temple in the Bhetapara area of Guwahati city and Lord Ganesha temple in the nearby area were vandalised by the miscreants on Tuesday night.

Guwahati: Two Mandirs were vandalised by unknown miscreants in Guwahati city on Tuesday (May 24) night. Last night, miscreants targeted Lord Shiva temple in the Bhetapara area of Guwahati city. The miscreants vandalised the Lord Shiva idol and Shiva Linga. The Shiva idol was thrown out of the mandir, and the Shiva Linga was also uprooted and thrown out of the temple. Miscreants vandalised the Trishul and other temple property, broke the DaanPatra and took away money and valuables belonging to the temple. Local people on Wednesday morning saw it and informed the police. Later, the devotees reinstated the Shiva idol and Shiva Linga. A police team led by DCP Sudhakar Singh visited the temple and said this was an act of hurting the sentiments of people. We will thoroughly investigate the matter, and culprits will be brought to the law soon, Singh said.

The miscreants also vandalised another nearby Lord Ganesha temple. The Lord Ganesha idol was also thrown out of the temple. Local and devotees demanded strict action against the culprits. Devotees of the temples said that the miscreants looted the money and valuables of the temples and vandalised the idols and Shiva Linga. This is an act of cruel enmity and intended to hurt the sentiments of the Hindu people. They demand police to act swiftly, arrest all the culprits immediately, and give them exemplary punishment.
