North East Festival celebration as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with theme ‘Role of Women in Northeast development’

The programme mainly focused on recognising women who have significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of North East India. A total of 19 women achievers in North-Eastern states have been awarded.

Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission R. D department and the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education Government of Tripura on Sunday (May 1), had jointly organised “North East Festival as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the ageis of MoDONER, with the theme “Role of Women in development of North East.”

The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries of different departments of Govt. of India and Tripura, Smt Pratima Bhowmik, Minister of State, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, Jishnu Dev Varma Deputy CM, Govt. of Tripura, Smt Santana Chakma Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Govt. of Tripura, Air Marshal, Anjan Kumar Gogoi, Member NECC, A. Roy Secretary of Planning and Coordination Department, Govt. of Tripura, Smt. Antara Sarkar Deb, Zila Sabhadipati West Tripura, Debapriya Bardhan DM& Collector West Tripura, and Smt. Barnali Goswami Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women.

The programme mainly focused on recognising women who have significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of North East India. A total of 19 women achievers in North-Eastern states have been awarded.

Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission has also launched a book containing 50 success stories of rural women who are contributing to building the rural economy.

One achiever from each state has shared their encouraging journey, how they are contributing and making an impact on the society, which was enlightening and encouraging for other women of the country.

Besides these, another 56 women achievers from Tripura have also been facilitated for their significant contribution to socio-economic empowerment from different Govt. of Tripura departments. The North East Festival has also been organised and celebrated across the state by community-level organisations like SHG Village Organisations (VO) and Cluster Level Federations (CLF) by organising events on women and child development and entrepreneurship development especially women farmers and entrepreneurs.
