Budget session concludes: PM lauds’ bipartisanship’ displayed by members

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the “rich level” of parliamentary debate during the Budget session and said the “bipartisanship augurs well” for India on the world stage.

“The rich level of debate and the constructive points illustrate how there is bipartisanship when it comes to matters of foreign policy. Such bipartisanship augurs well for India at the world stage,” said PM in a series of tweets.

“It is our collective duty to care for the safety and well-being of our fellow citizens and the Government of India will leave no stone unturned to ensure our people do not face any troubles in adverse situations,” the Prime Minister wrote.

In another message, PM Modi said he is grateful to all MP colleagues who enriched this discussion with their views.

“Over the last few days Parliament has witnessed a healthy discussion on the situation in Ukraine and India’s efforts to bring back our citizens through Operation Ganga. I am grateful to all MP colleagues who enriched this discussion with their views,” the Prime Minister wrote.

A general discussion under Rule 193 was taken up by Lok Sabha to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

The Budget session ended on Thursday as both the Houses’ proceedings were adjourned sine die.

In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla made the valedictory reference as soon as the House met for the day, summing up the session’s proceedings. The House has been adjourned sine die a day before schedule.

Besides the budgetary process, key bills passed during the session include the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill and the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill.
