Prime Minister said Uttar Pradesh has given many prime ministers, but for the first time, it has re-elected a chief minister after he had served a full term.

New Delhi: It's jubilation all the way and also a roadmap. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (March 10) asserted that perhaps the mandate delivered by the electorate of Uttar Pradesh has also sealed the fate of the 2024 general elections.

"My opponents said in 2019 that the fate of 2019 general elections were decided in the 2017 UP elections itself. Now I think they will say the same that the fate of 2024 polls was sealed in today's outcome," the Prime Minister said in his victory speech to the party workers at BJP HQ.

"The results strongly vindicate BJP's pro-poor and pro-active governance. Earlier, the people could not reach governments for basic amenities such as electricity, gas and water. Under different party governments, several announcements and schemes were made for the poor, but benefits of such schemes never reached the poor who deserved and needed it," he said.

"The BJP understands that good governance and delivery of such schemes is very important, and we work to ensure the same," he said.

Modi said the first-time voters have ensured the party’s victory in four states. In fact, it's a sort of history that the incumbent regimes have returned to power in four states, including tough provinces such as Uttar Pradesh.

"BJP workers had promised me that Holi would begin from March 10 this year, and they have kept their promise. These workers worked 24×7 and were successful in winning the trust of the people across states," Modi said.

While the win was decisive in Uttar Pradesh, with the Modi-Yogi duo leading the charge, it was quite a pleasant surprise in Uttarakhand. The saffron party also retained power in Manipur and Goa by improving its vote share and seats.

PM said the election results highlight people's stamp of strong approval for the party's pro-poor and proactive governance model.

"Those who look at UP through the prism of caste insult the state and the people, but the electorate of the state have repeatedly voted for the politics of development four times since 2014," he said.

PM Modi pointed out that the BJP's vote share has increased in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and Goa, despite being incumbent. In fact, in these three states, BJP's seats have increased too, he said.

Regarding Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Prime Minister said Uttar Pradesh has given many prime ministers, but for the first time, it has re-elected a chief minister after he had served a full term.

He said all exit polls were proven incorrect in Goa as the people have given the BJP the chance to serve them for the third consecutive term.

"We have also made history in Uttarakhand. For the first time, a party has come to power consecutive times," he said.

In a tweet later, the Prime Minister congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its emphatic win in Punjab assembly polls. "I would like to congratulate AAP for their victory in the Punjab elections. I assure all possible support from the Centre for Punjab’s welfare," Modi tweeted.
