The Assam government organised a series of programs across the country to commemorate the 400th birth anniversary of Veer Lachit, who defeated the Mughals in the last battle of Saraighat. It was the bravery of the Ahom general that the 60 thousand strong army of Mughals had to run for their life in front of a small Ahom army comprising just 20 thousand warriors. Veer Lachit Borphukan's bravery and war skills compelled the Mughal's to abandon the idea of attacking Assam again.
