Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi has written a letter to the Union Home Minister, expressing concern over Aam Aadmi Party’s hobnobbing with separatist Khalistani forces.
The Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday (February 18) that Aam Aadmi Party’s connection with separatist Khalistani forces is a very serious matter and will be investigated.
Punjab CM Channi had written a letter to the Union Home Minister Shah, expressing his concern over AAP’s hobnobbing with the separatist Khalistani forces.
Former AAP leader and close confidant of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Dr Kumar Vishwas, had said multiple times that Kejriwal was hobnobbing with Khalistanis in 2017 polls and had no issues with taking support from the Khalistanis to gain power.
CM Channi has written that AAP hobnobbing with separatist Khalistani forces is “a very serious issue of compromising with the security and integrity of the country and thus needs to be thoroughly investigated.”
Referring to Dr Vishwas’ allegations, CM Channi has written, “These allegations also deserved to be probed comprehensively and necessary action taken accordingly. I hope you would consider this and take appropriate necessary action immediately, keeping in view the seriousness of the matter involved as Punjab has already suffered heavily due to these separatist forces.”
Assuring the Punjab chief minister, the Union Home Minister, said some people are hobnobbing with separatist forces for gaining political power, but nobody will be allowed to hurt the unity and integrity of the country. He added that the government would investigate the matter.
Dr Kumar Vishwas has been saying for a long time that Kejriwal and several AAP leaders had multiple meetings with the separatist Khalistani forces. He added that he had warned Kejriwal about its consequences, but Kejriwal did not listen to him.
Former AAP MLA and Congress leader Alka Lamba also accused CM Kejriwal of taking support from Khalistanis.
A former colleague of Arvind Kejriwal and founder member of the AAP, Yogendra Yadav, had earlier said that Arvind Kejriwal could go to any extent to gain power. He had said Kejriwal has been hobnobbing with the separatist forces for a long time.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had threatened media houses with legal action if they raised the allegations levelled against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by poet Dr Kumar Vishwas.
Before Dr Vishwas quit AAP, he was a close confidant of Kejriwal and AAP’s in charge of Punjab in the last assembly elections in 2017. Dr Vishwas said Arvind Kejriwal wanted to be the first prime minister of Khalistan.
AAP MLA in Delhi, national spokesperson and Punjab in-charge Raghav Chadha, threatened media houses with legal action if they telecast Dr Vishwas's interview.
In a series of posts on Twitter, Chadha said, “Malicious, unfounded, fabricated, inflammatory insinuations made by Mr. Vishwas are not only demonstrably defamatory but is redolent of promoting hatred ill will, hostility in society and in particular against AAP, as well as supporters as also intending to create a situation of unrest.”
“In view thereof, it is forcefully submitted that in case any channel publishes/ circulated aids or provide platform to disseminate the same we shall be found forced to take stringent legal action which shall include the commission of the offences of abetment/ aiding him,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a public rally in Punjab on Thursday (February 17), warned people about the ill intentions of such politicians who are ready to divide the country for political power.
Without naming Arvind Kejriwal and Kumar Vishwas, PM Modi said what the former close confidant of Kejriwal has said about him should be a warning for all. Alluding to Dr Kumar Vishwas, PM Modi said he was not just a close confidant of Kejriwal but is also a renowned poet loved by the young generation.
Delhi CM Kejriwal had confided in Dr Vishwas in 2017 that once the party secures a majority in the Punjab assembly with the help of the separatists, he would ensure a fight between (HS) Phoolka group and Bhagwant Mann group and himself emerge as the consensus candidate.
The voting for 117 seats of the Punjab assembly will take place tomorrow (February 20).
